There is a lot of history on this ball joint failure issue. It is nice that they have decided to do something, but it took way too long.

Where does that leave all of us who have had to have them replaced? I bought parts and did the work myself. How will people in my situation be compensated? And if we are not using their factory parts, do we still have this extended warranty? ... . because it is very possible that this issue does not stem only from defective parts.

It is hard for me to comprehend how they could underdesign a front end assembly so badly, particularly when you add all of the track bar issues.

discuss... .

Ball Joints

I saw the story on local news here in Denver, a black eye for Mopar!

I am glad to see something done about it, I don't think our trucks will be

included, though they should be!

My son has had to replace the ball joints on his 2001. 5 CTD recently, I have kept an eye on mine every tire rotation. So far so good but I'm sure they will need replacment sooner or later. It's not confidence inspiring while towing or driving down the interstate.

I'm sure Ford and Chevy have had similar problems, but why skimp on

something as important as ball joints, Corpirate America blows my mind!!!!

I know most of us have had to fix problems (track bar, death wobble etc. )

from reading the posts on this website, I feel frusterated at times, but am

greatful for all the shared information available on this website.

As to compesation for these problems I have my doubts especially when you

have to involve laywers (yuk!!!!!!!) thats another pet peave.

Thats my 2 cents

You are right. I am sorry, my mistake. I think my interpretation of it was affected by an intermittent ability to read and wishful thinking.

Maybe it will draw attention to our situation.

The link just sent me to an add on Fox news.

I was hoping my truck was included. My front end is gone. 44k and its already been done once. Previous owner did 5 track bars already.

Please remember that the front end of 4x4s was supplied complete by Dana (through 2002 for Rams). Mopar is not using Dana now. My 1997 had no problem with the ball joints from Dana, however, so their supplier may have screwed up on them in later years. At any rate, it may not be fair to blame DC directly for the problem.

in a way this is true, but you can bet that DC gave them a number that they needed to shoot for, since the axle was built by Dana for DC. they would have to cut corners to make the budget DC gave them.
