OH MY GOSH!

Goes to prove you can't bump and grind like that all the time. But that really stinks. He was a good guy.

God Bless Him and his Family.

I was never an Earnhardt fan, but geez, I hate to see this happen to any racer. The list of great racers killed on the track is sure a long one.
That "Great Racetrack & Shop in the Sky" must be quite a place, with all those brilliant drivers from all forms of racing, crew chiefs, and engine builders.

I never got to watch Richard Petty drive-I did get to see lots of Big E. With that observation aside, I believe that Dale Earnhardt was the best ever in Winston Cup-I saw him do things in a race car that I haven't seen anybody else do-look at the IROC footage from earlier in the week. This is the end of my NASCAR watching-way too many people killed off in the last year for me-not to mention Davey, Alan and Neil. I'm folding up my #3 stuff as we speak and putting it all away-way too much emotion to see it all the time.

Was watching the race on TV and knew somthing just wasn't right when everyone that was interviewed refused to say anything about Dale. NASCAR, and the Nation lost a true American today. I never was a "bowtie" fan when it came to NASCAR but, I was a fan of #3.
Dale, the checkered flag flies for you... .

crudeboy,

Hope you find your way back; it's a terrible thing. With all the safety gear and research you'd think NASCAR could come up with something to keep these drivers from dying from lower neck and head injuries from head-on and near-head-on collisions -- actually, I think they have. Some of the drivers are wearing shoulder pad devices that support the helmet and head/neck. I don't think Dale wore one.

I like millions of others am left speechless. My heart goes out their family. How does Tony Stewart walk away, and Dale lose it all, Waltrip wins his first under Dale's wing; very very sad day in racing.

It sucks, hate to see anyone die, but lets look at this.

Dale hit everything on that track today except the pace car trying to intimidate. He runs up beside Gordon and side swipes him for NO reason... . Runs into the pits and sees another car passing him on his right and floors his ride causing it to ram the guy in front of him for NO reason. He played some pretty scarry "side to side" games that anyone will tell you is dangerous at that speed, all during the last 10 laps trying to keep Marlin from passing. He even bumped his own kid during that race the other night... WTF?

Every corner of Dales car was beat up from HIM ramming other drivers. Its like the one guy said after the first pile up... "its always the same drivers causing problems out here every week". Dale kept alot of good drivers in the back because they dont like that bump and ram B. S. he was always pulling.

Maybe NASCAR needs to let these cars run. Take the restrictions away and let the fast cars pull away from the pack. This sh** of trying to keep the cars all bunched up for the fans is insane.

Dale was a great driver, we all hate to see him pass away. You cant help but to wonder if he would still be here today if he wouldnt have been playing games trying to screw the air up for everyone else going side to side at 190+mph. He had been at it for 6 laps before he hit the wall.

I too am saddened by the passing of a another of nascars greats , possibly the greatest . As well as others my deepest regrets go out to little E and all of Dale's family . This may be a Dodge site but that man in a black chevy was the best.

Dale didn't cause that accident today and you know it. It was nobodys fault. Dale was trying to help his man win, just like anyone else on that track would do. Sterling was trying to get around, just like any other driver would do. Rusty came flying up the middle, just like any other drive would do. Ken Schrader had no choice but to hit, so would any other. You obviously haven't seen other drivers on the track or in the pits. If they want to lose a race, they'll stay back. That's not anyone elses problem but their own.

This will probably get my message erased, but Chad, just shut your face.

All I know is that I have been a fan since Wrangler was on the his car. I dont think any words can express the loss of one the the greatest stock car racers will do to NASCAR.
I know I will not watch a race for a long time.

I certainly was not a Dale Earnhart fan, but after I watched him race at the Glen with a busted sternam I gained a lot of respect for him. I hate to see him go, but he would have preferred this way to wasting away in a bed. His victory parade down pit road after his win at Daytona showed what the others thought of him. I doubt there are many dry eyes in NASCAR this evening.

Tell ya what jthorp. You dont want to go this route. Take it how you want. I make my observations, and you make yours. There are plenty of #3 items laying around my house. Dale was a kick a$$ driver... and I doubt anyone will argue that with any intelligence.

Like I said, I hate to see him go. I will take your smart remark with a grain of salt giving today's tragic circumstances that you are apparently taking very hard, along with tens of thousands of others, including myself. Its a sad deal no matter how you dice it up. Its a very screwed up deal, and Dale will be sadly missed by all. Perhaps after the shock and anger has worn off some, you will read past what you saw as an insult and see the true meaning to my post. The bumping and ramming has to stay to a minimum regardless of who is doing it and what car they are driving, and that NASCAR needs to rethink this restriction B. S. they are doing to keep all the cars "equal" for the fans.

I was stunned today after seeig the crash to hear that he had died. He didn't get hit real hard or hit the wall that hard. I suspect, after watching it numerous times that it was "one of those things" and he had his head at the wrong angle when he was hit.

A lot of people did not care for his style but he was always there, usually toward the front. He helped make Nascar what it is today and will be missed by many. I would hope that everyone would hold back their personal feelings at a time like this and not slam his memory.

Dale, you will be missed. Godspeed.

Stan

He was a hardcore competitor who saw nothing but victory and ALWAYS spoke his mind. That is why I liked him. I could have cared less about what brand he drove, or who he drove for. He always wanted victory. Tonight the man up above is waving the big checkered flag for the man in black.

Well to be honest if he "had" to go at least he went "on the track" in a race instead of some other way. Since that was his life I am sure when it was "his time" thats how he would have preferred to pass on.

I am still kinda speechless, just found out bout it a few minutes ago (read it here first, then ran and rewound the tape I recorded it on).

Great loss to racing... ...
