Headed straight to the Dodge spot. Figured they'd have one of the '03s ready to look at. Well there it was 3500 dually, 4X4, bright red. Looks good. I did not care to see the outside as much as a close up of the new Cummins engine. THIS WAS NOT TO BE :mad: :mad: :mad: They removed the hood latch. I found the showboy and he tells me that the reason they removed the latch was it did not have the new Cummins engine under the hood. #@$%! Showboy says they were keeping it quite, that the truck should not have been there w/o the new engine. Showboy says that its the old engine under the hood. I did crawl under far enough to see the turbo. :{

Was it a std or auto ????

If the "old" engine was under the hood, it was a std then it should have had a HX-35. Which means if it did then the PDR HX will fit the new ones. Oo. Oo. Oo.

Showboy was most likely pulling the wool over your eyes! Jff24gordn went to the Chicago auto show during the public days (I was there during the press days) and they had removed the hood latch on those too (for the public days) - and they definately had the new engine in them. If it had the old engine in it then they pushed it into the show - because there's no way they could fit it in without bolting on a bunch of the parts from the new one. The turbo even turns the opposite direction of the current ones!!

Update

Just wondering, Steve, if you have an update almost ready? Definately chompin' for some more of the good info!

I would bet that the hood latch was removed to prevent theft of parts under the hood. I have worked shows before and it's amazing how much stuff can be removed using 10 fingers!! Turn your back on the display vehicle for just a few seconds and stuff vanishes, in fact, you don't even have to turn your back!!! Some folks carry small pliers in their pockets which will do damage to parts if they don't get them completely removed. Some think it's a great sport to rob parts off of venicles at shows.

Shooter, it was an auto. On futher review of the noggin retension system it seems that the exhaust was about 4" and had a slightly different drop from the turbo. I don't remember seeing the wastegate though.

RottnDogue, I wish I knew. Why wouldn't they want us regular Joe's, the ones who buy these things, looking under the hood? :rolleyes: shhh its a secret... .

Bill, We posted at the same time. Good point, I had not thought of the thievery(sp?) angle. What a world... .
