I am going to be replacing my clutch pack in my Dana 70 Power Lok this weekend. What I need to know is what do you lube the disks and plates with? Do you use the anti-friction additive or do you just use your normal gear lube.

You may also consider doing the propper stack instead of the soft OEM stack of the clutches. Factory stacks steels and fibers against each other so it slips easier. If you alternate you will wind up If I remember correctly reusing a fiber from the old pack to get the full stack and it will result in a really tight LSD that WILL act like a locker and snap and pop in corners on dry pavement. I have done this to several diffs and it works great.

My Dana 70 in my 01 2500 has a super tight clutch pack right from the factory. Best LSD I have ever had in any truck. And at 105,000 it's still tight. Amazing!

I received my clutch pack from Randy's last night and it came with the modifier to soak the clutches with. I'll consider re-stacking them it depends on what my old clutches look like 200k + miles.

Dana will stack them depending on what the customer (Dodge) specifies. The stack like plates together to reduce chatter on sharp turns and then they put a whole bottle of friction modifier in to almost eliminate the friction between the axles. I got my LS out of a newer truck ('00 or '01 when it was about a year old) because the owner got stuck in a field (4X4 with 1 wheel on each axle spining) and had a Detroit put in it. I stacked the plates correctly (friction/steel/friction, etc) and put it in my '94 and didn't put any modifier in it. I put about 3500 miles on it before it started to chatter and 1 ounce of modifier stopped it until I changed the Amsoil. The next time it took 2 ounces.

I pulled my diff. out on the Oct. 16 and it went well. I coated the pack with the modifier that came with the new ones from Randy's and stack them back the way they came out. This time I change to Valvoline 80 90 for limit slip from Royal Purple. Everything looked good except the clutches. I hope this time the clutches last longer than 200k. I had a Jeep Cherokee with a Trak Lok I traded

in for this truck with 300k and never had a rear end problem. I am waiting for the rear end to chatter before I start adding any modifier, so far no chatters.
