Can someone tell me if all4x4 Dana 70 equipped trucks have the powertrac limited slip or if it was a option ? I keep getting the one wheel peel on mine and was wondering if I had worn out clutches or just a open rear .

Joe

It was an option. Do you have the options tag/sticker under the hood towards the driver side? It will tell ya whether or not you have a LSD. My 89 is open, 91 LSD. Bill

My '91 4x4 also has an open rear - first truck I've had in almost 25 years without a limited slip in the rear! Kind of miss it!!

Like Jason above said, I'll probably upgrade one of these days, but there's a lot of other places to put the money in the truck right now!!

BTW - I priced a posi for that axle at the local acle shop (DTS - good guys to do business with!) and it was in the $700 neighborhood!

I too have an open diff. The only way to really tell is to crawl down and look on the tag on the rear axle. It will say "3. 54 LSD" or "4. 10 LSD" if it is limited slip.

Or you can pull the diff cover (fluid needs changing, anyway;)), and see if the passenger side of the carrier is rounded off or square. Rounded= open/ 1WD; squared= LSD. And, if your clutches wear out, you end up with a spool, wont slip at all. BTDT. Rear axle capacity is ~3. 5qts.
