If your refering to the carrier bearings it's 80 FT/LBS. The hub nut is 120-140 FT/LBS

If you're talking about the wheel bearings I assume you know that the nut needs to be loosened 1/8 of a turn after torquing to provide the proper bearing end play (0. 001 to 0. 010") If left tight bearing life will be greatly reduced to say the least:(

I've not seen that nut ,but to torque it to 120ft pounds and then back it off 1/8 turn and end up with . 001 -. 010 clearance . It sounds like you would not have any torque with even . 001 clearance. What am I missing?

The torque seats things. Backing off after applying torque provides a known, required clearance. Fairly common with wheel bearings.
