Ok getting some conflicting info I think... . I've done lots of bearing replacements and seal replacements on GM 14 bolts... . Now I had to change a right axle seal on my 99 last week,,,the local diesel shop where i got my parts told me when I tighen up the NEW nylok nut, just run it up snup so the hub has no play in it... then put the little lock thingamabob in and thats it... so did that... the next day did an 800 mile trip. . got in late and parked... the next day the rearend is howling... now that has stopped... but now I'm hearing that the bearing need to be a certain torque?? SO is this right or not... cause if it is i need to get back in there and torque it down... anyone know what the torque is... cause the local shop said there isnt any?? thanks for any info...

Just got off the phone with the local Dodge dealer... looks like I got some bad info from the diesel guys... . its 130ftlbs then back off nut 1/3 turn... grrr... wonder what I ate in it?? Headin to tear it down and take a look... . keep ya posted.....

The guy at the parts store was kinda right. The manual say's to torque it then back it off. But what you did is OK to. You want . 001 to . 010 end play when your done. So you should be ok just check the end play.
