I read here a few months back that a Dana 80 Dually would fit our trucks with few modifications when used in a single wheel configuration. Can somebody please confirm this or tell me I'm getting old and trying to live thru my wild imaginations. SteveinAZ

Yeah, A Dana80 would work for you, if you get a SRW (C&C may work as well- measure your track width). The SRW technically would be a hybrid, but the D80 I have has the same bearings and wheel seals as the 70, so it's hard to say. The differential and tubes are bigger. I have some custom u-bolts I am going to try to install this weekend. (I have modified 1st Gen u-bolt plates and stock ubolts in there now. If you go the route I am going, you will need new shock mounts, as the 1st Gen and 2nd gen are radically different.

Good to have some left when you get old.

I have a D80 that was running duals. Can't say about the width. It is way too hot for me to get out there and measure. I think it will be fairly simple to mount with a bit of hay wire and spit. I have the brackets from both and plan to breed them in hopes of whelping some hybrid parts that will bolt right up.
