Just because the build sheet says 3. 55:1 doesn't mean it's actually 3. 55:1. It could be 3. 54:1. The front and rear diffs can be slightly different too. Checking Randy's R&P the D60 and D80 are both only available with 3. 54:1 gears. On my 1/2T the (front) D44 was 3. 54:1 and the (rear) Chrysler 9. 25 was 3. 55:1. The ratio is determined by counting the ring teeth and pinion teeth and there's only so many combinations available for a given ring size.
