When it's cold outside, turn the switch,Wait to Start. . whatever it is that kicks on(seeing how I don't know much about these things :p) Goes off, fire it up,wait till oil pressure builds up but I've always notcied the amp meter dropping like a rock for a few secs, coming back up,dropping again and after a minute or two it'll jump back up there. . what is making it do this?

Secondly when it's cold,do the above and take off,in 2nd,it will blow a little white smoke,3rd,4th,ease off gas for right turn, when I let off the gas it'll blow white smoke for a few seconds,2nd gear,it'll smoke white for just a split second. Then if I let off the gas a lot it'll smoke for just a second or two. After temp comes up just a bit it won't do it anymore.

Then when it's running, crank it up let everything come up,if I blip the throttle it don't want to run right, the 93 W350,if I blipped the throttle it would blow black smoke. This one seems like it's missing on a cylinder or two and will blow a tiny bit of white/blue/black smoke.

I don't know squat about these trucks, even though I've asked tons of questions I really don't understand these motors at all, just gas motors. I need to grow a big ole pair of balls because I'm moreless nervous about these trucks because I don't know squat about them. The truck has only 86k on the clock and is actual and a older farmer we know had it,hardly ever drove it unless it was to dragging hay or cows around. There is a fellow kind of local,Joey something, that is a CTD nut that people say fellers from Calforina come to let him work on there trucks*shrugs* I'm thinking about taking it to him and let him tweak on the pump and tab the KDB. But otherwise on the motor I don't know where or what squat is. So if you say check this wire or that on this. . I ain't gonna have a CLUE  I've been trying to sell it for awhile and I think it's mostly because I don't know crap about it but I need to grow some nuts :-laf and LEARN Help? :D

Well first off CB, I mean Mopar Man,
When it's cold outside, turn the switch,Wait to Start. . whatever it is that kicks on(seeing how I don't know much about these damn things ) Goes off, fire it up,wait till oil pressure builds up but I've always notcied the amp meter dropping like a rock for a few secs, coming back up,dropping again and after a minute or two it'll jump back up there. . WTF is making it do this?
The grid heaters are making it do this, in there POST HEAT cycle, perfectly normal, no worries bro. The temperature of the air entering the motor is cold, the grid heaters will cycle on/off, on/off til the temp of the air entering the motor warms up to a certain temp.

WTF!?
This is normal operation of a diesel engine in cold temps. The white smoke is unburned fuel cause the temp is too low to burn it.

Then when it's running, crank it up let everything come up,if I blip the throttle it don't want to run right, the 93 W350,if I blipped the throttle it would blow black smoke. This one seems like it's missing on a cylinder or two and will blow a tiny bit of white/blue/black smoke.
Could be timing, could just be normal winter/cold weather operation. Wouldn't worry about it a bit. Maybe the W model you had, had been turned up slightly more. Do you want it to blow more black smoke? What is it you want?

Lastly, I think a service manual or operation manual would help you a bunch. Trust me, I don't know squat about gassers, I feel the same way you do only on gassers though. These Cummins are as simple as they get. Get a manual, compare it to your Cummins, learn read study the parts, components of your engine, you will be much happy with it, once you learn a few things about it. Get all that gasser crap outta your head, this a Cummins diesel. Time to start thinking slightly different. Get a Chilton's or factory service manual, a T&R manual for the B series Cummins. It's all there, in the book, just nuts and bolts. If you follow the book the Cummins engineers wrote for ya, ya probly can damn near rebuild the motor top to bottom, not knowing a damn thing about diesels :-laf . Hang in there. Maybe have a talk with the Joey guy see what he knows about our 1st Gen trucks and motors. Wouldn't let him touch anything though. Maybe if he knows some, he can give you a tutorial or walk through of whats what etc etc.

" I've been trying to sell it for awhile and I think it's mostly because I don't know crap about it"

sacrilege, just sacrilege. just kidding. i know the feeling. but if you stick with it, you will be well rewarded. trust me.

haynes manual costs about 15 bucks. its the first thing i buy when ever i buy a car or truck. has saved me thousands of dollars on shop fees. damn good investment :)

In this case the Haynes, Chilton, or other aftermarket manual has little to no info for the diesel engines. I would highly recommend putting the $15 towards the FSM.

I agree with what Alan said. I have a Chiltons to verify it.

I also have a Mitchell book, and that has a little more... just enough to get me started but not finished... ... ...

But it will help with the brakes and shocks and maybe show you where the fuse box is. :-laf

Well boys where in the world can I get a factory service manuel,I asked at the local Dodge dealership and Terry(partsman) told me they do NOT sell them and didn't really know where i could go to get one :( I still am a little leary about the truck and it needs a set of tires, unless I get comfy with driving the truck I am not going to spend $600 on a set of tires and alignment just yet. Having a factory service manuel would sure help me understand them a lot more so if anybody has one or knows where I can order them that would be greatly appreciated.

On buying tires I looked at some Cooper tires at the local tire store, just a street tire on the front and looked at some I believe they are called like a SST or something to that effect M/T tire for the back four so maybe it would stop spinning the super slickers thats on it now. Are Cooper tires good ones? People ran them and like them?

Main thing is,I don't like diesels because I don't understand them(which is pretty stupid on my part) but I'll soon be needing a big ole truck to tow a big trailer with two trucks on it to go play in the mud so I just need to knuckle down, buckle down,do it do it do it ;D

Jimbo

Jimbo, you have the ultimate towing rig already. It is the 'big ole truck' that will handily pull that gooseneck with two trucks on it. I've heard Coopers are good, I've only run a set on a D100 for a few thousand miles, I liked them. They were a m/t tread. You'll like diesels sooner or later. If you want a factory service manual, go to www.techauthority.com. Get their 800#, their website will not show FSM's for our trucks, but they are available, you just have to call them to get one.

Hang in there bro. I was thinking about you this past week, as I warmed my truck up during the cold temps. I got this pic for you, to show you normal cold weather effects. :D
