Does anybody know how to disable the stinkin' seat belt chime? I usually wear it, but at work driving from shop to the hangars (a mile trip) the thing screams at me. Extremely annoying! Worse than a nagging wife! I haven't crawled under the dash yet, due to the weather arond here, just hoping for an easy fix. Oh sorry, it's an '04 3500 4x4 swb stock. Thanks, Geoff

Get in the truck and buckle the seat belt. Turn the key on/engine off, watch for the seat belt light to go out in the dash. Then, unbuckle and buckle the seat belt 3 times in 10 seconds, ending with the belt buckled. You should see the seat belt light in the dash go on/off between buckles. Then, turn the key off, you should hear a chime sound to let you know it worked. Instructions are also in the book under "enhanced occupant restraint"

hope this helps,

Dave

... or plug the center seat belt into the driver's seat belt buckle. That's what I did until I managed to get the owner's manual procedure to work.

Dang. Why didn't I think of that? :--)

O. K. the whimpy mama like advice.

Why not just bucke up for the short trip? The habbit carries on past your short trip.

Only reason I mention it is that I got in the habbit of leaving the belt off between jobs as they were only 1-2 miles apart, and found myself many times half way home w/o being buckled up. Really when you think about it, fastening the belt happens about as fast as you can fire up and get going anyway...

Just a thought,

Greg

Main time that its annoying for me is during hunting season when I'm getting in and out of the truck driving through farms. I'm in a click-it-or-ticket state, so I wear mine on the road. Another time is if you're fueling and move your truck away from the pump, while leaving your wife in the co-pilot's seat. If you move the truck 10' without clicking the belt and then leave to go in, the chime will drive the wifey nutz. Has its good and bad points. :-laf

I am a total believer in using my seat belt. In fact, if you don't wear yours, you won't be riding with me. :-{}

I've been hard-nosed about this since about 1970, long before any seat belt laws.

Having said that, they are a pain when put-putting around the fields, in and out of the truck, where the only collision danger is a fast-moving cow. :-laf

That is why I responded to this thread. I figure we're all adults here (well... most of us ;) ) and we should all know when to wear a seat belt.

In the 06 they changed the sizes of the center buckle so the driver's belt won't fit in. Check the Owner Manual to disable the chime.

Easy enough, run the drivers belt behind you, between yourself and the seat and buckle it up. This is what we don when we are in the woods.

This work the first time for me. I did it in the dealer lot, right when they handed me the keys. Oo.

I didn't know about the disable feature. I just cut the wires to the latch and wired together. Closes the circuit permanently. No more light or chime. Now if I could just kill the chime for the key-in-ignition while in the axillary position, I'd be :-laf (Already killed the key-in-ignition while off chime. )
