If it's not one thing it's another:{

My radiator has developed a crack in the plastic end piece, can that be fixed or does it require a new rad? If so who has the cheapest price? also were did that thread about the heavy duty radiators go?

Thanks,

Is it lealing coolant?

If yes and can not be fixed with jb weld then radiator will have to be replaced.

Does the crack involve structural damage that will weaken or cause the radiator to fall apart ( as in to leak coolant or fall out on road).

If so replace radiator.

Sorry I can't be more help.

Mine sprung a leak too

Green puddle in Grass Valley

My 94 with 89k just started leaking from the drivers side

pinch gasket seam. It's not the drain plug. Radiator shop said

the pinch seam tanks usually don't last past 10 years. I believe this. Any recommendations on a "good source" for a new one.

I replaced my radiator on 6/30/03.

Auto Radiator Outlet

1 800 252 0333

Sacramento, Calif.

Cost $305. 66 w/taxes.

They have OEM (about $385) and aftermarket ($285) plus tax. I wanted the aftermarket, was not in stock, so they gave me an OEM at aftermarket price. They ship all over the US.

Do a search for radiator, and you will find the heavy duty radiator thread.

Wayne,

Thanks for the tip. I did locate a new one from Radiatorexpress.com for $339 and it arrived in

good shape. It fit properly and I'm back on the road

again minus the puddles.

How long to do a radiator switch and how hard?

BGDUMMY,

Fairly EZ changeout as radiators go. Slide out the coolant and windshield wash tanks, four 10mm bolts to release fan shroud,

undo those pinch hose clamps then two 10mm bolts that

hold the rad in place. Pull it out. Since mine was 10 yrs old

I replaced upper and lwr hoses, new T'stat and firewall heater

hoses (5/8") When putting fan shroud back on be sure you

get the 2 bottom tabs inserted into the radiator, best done from the creeper.

I checked out the failure on my old rad by the drain cock,

the pinch had loosened and allowed some silica looking gunk

to get under it and cause the leak. Rad shop said "pressure

cycle failure"

All better now!

I got a new rad from Auto Radiators for $332 plus $9 for 2 day shippingOo. with a life time warranty;)

It's a pretty easy job, just make sure you have a long catch can under the truck:rolleyes: or 2-3. The fluid can sure end up in the darnedest places. You don't have to pull the reservoir out to do it just the window washer bottle. Take the lower rad hose loose at the rad and not the water pump or you won't get the hose past the fan shroud.

Over $300 for a radiator. Man I hope mine holds together for a long, long time. It has one spot that is starting to look questionable though :(
