I weighed my truck last Sunday at a closed truck scale at Vernita Bridge, WA (no one but the locals know where the heck this is. . . )

Anyway for my 2wd shortbed:

Front axle = 4000
exactly

Rear axle = 2750

Total 6750

This is 3/4 tank of fuel and about 75lbs misc. items, without anyone in the truck.

This truck is almost 350 lbs heavier than my previous truck, a '01 2500 2wd shortbed. ALL the additional weight is at the front wheels, the rear ends weigh exactly the same. Besides the cab I wonder where the additional weight comes from??

Was your old truck a 6 speed, if not, there it is. After changing about 6 clutches in the big 6ers, them dang things are heavy.

Vaughn,

That's not heavy. Mine tipped the scales at 8,250# with me, a full tank of fuel and a 5w hitch. She moves pretty good for a fat girl:D

I weighed mine on our bulk truck scale at work. It weighed 8050 lbs with a full tank, and no one in it. Still gets 17 mpg...

Mine wieghed in at 7420 with me and a full tank this weekend. When I left I wieghed out at 11,340. I had to get a little bit a sand for the Kids sand box.

could be a bit difference in the scales. . even certified scales are different one to another, they do have to service them and the rural ones are last to see the Fairbanks Morse service rig LOL

When I bought my truck, it came in at 7000# even. Full fuel and no one in it. No accessories with exception to the bug guard. Now weighs in at 7920# with no one in it.

Did you forget how much bigger the grill is compared to the older truck? I'll bet that's where the difference is and that's also why they increased the Hp's:rolleyes:

For those that want that big, one time depreciation, it better weigh 7K. The vehicle comes with a statement of origin (MSO?)that most of us don't see. It has the official dry weight according to Dodge. I got one on My '94, '95, & '96 and none of them were 7K. The '96 was a long bed club cab and still did not make 7 K until it was filled with fuel.

Geez, I only bought this thing - I didnt mary it!

:-laf I have added some stuff in the bed of the truck. Cross-over toolbox, 105 gal. transfer fuel tank for off-road diesel (farm eqip. , not the truck :) ), running boards (cab and box) and some other odds and ends.
