Golly Fred that has to be it, why didn't I think of that??

My neighbor likes to give me crap about my grille. Whenever I'm washing it and he's outside he squints real hard and says "Hey where's the grille on that thing??"

Vaughn,

My truck empty, no owners manual even, and 5-6 gallons from a full tank of fuel weighed in at #7600. No with my extras I'm sure it is close to about #8000.

9300 w/ fuel tanks full, stuff in boxes, empty bed no passengers

104 gal fuel

vn,,,,,,,,,,,,,u a liteweight:rolleyes:

My weight w/ . 5 tank fuel and me/toolbox//turn-ovr hitch, weighed 7600 on the money. Dont forget the HEAVIER Cummins with all the xtra noise eliminators (beefed up block, plate, top cvr, etc) that they put on this thing.

Vaughn - r u sure its a 6 spd? Did you actually shift that many times or r u short a gear? (just wandering)

Heavy isn't a bad thing for a truck! Consider it the other way around. . if DC had built the trucks lighter with thinner materials we'd be complaining about stuff like dented sheetmetal on the bedrails, like the GM guys! ;)

Save a few pounds here and there just to get the GCVWR up a few hundred so the truck looks good compared to the competition? No way! :D

I think it's a good thing they gained weight. . also safer in an accident.

Leaving the gravel quarry I was 12,400 (just a tad overweight), I was still able to accelerate up the hills.

I think the soon to be purchased e-brake would be nice.

Mine was 7250 with me and a full tank of diesel. Still have a few accessories to add, including the Putco Boss Bars. So it looks like we'll be gaining weight for a while!

I can't see much wrong with a HEAVY truck?! If you want a light truck, chevy's HD is the lightest (full size 3/4, 1 ton). Heavy trucks are great for towing. Better to have the dog wag the tail than the tail wag the dog! Try the tail gate lift test on the Dodge vs. Ford vs. Chevy. The Dodge is BY FAR the heaviest. The chevy gate is as light as a toyota tacoma tail gate. You neverknow when you're gonna need that strong tail gate, I have. Heaviest load carried on my '01 2500 CTD? 9,000# of dirt. Could have hauled more.

9950 with 1/2 tank of fuel. utility boxes stick out a foot each side and I still get 15MPG. Drive it slow, drive it fast, drive in winter-- Always 15 MPG
