Dash heater controls

Can anyone comment on the fact that there are clicks between the dots on the heat control knob? Do you stop on the dot or on the picture of vents etc. ?

Intermediate positions... I like them myself. For example, the position between Floor-Only and Defrost/Floor (50/50) gives you 25% Defrost and 75% Floor airflow.
