1993 Dodge 4+4 dash indicater lights ABS, Water in Fuel, Brake light are staying on after start any ideas? Cruise Control and every thing working fine. Disconnected Batteries and no change.
So what was the fix? Pretty sure it is not with the ground connection. Something got wet! You would think a small amount of moisture would not cause such a problem, but I guess it did. I cleaned the connector (running from the fuel filter to the harness. ) No results. So I guess it could either be the connector from the filter, or somehow the PCM. I covered the PCM and the TPS with plastic wrap as well as the air filter before "detailing" the engine with Griot's kit and low pressure spray. I did not cover the fuel filter connections. I drained some fuel from the filter and it was clean with not a trace of water. Oh, I also added two bottles of Lucas diesel and gas treatment to tank and filled before detailing the engine. So the "water in fuel" light remains lit. Thanks... .
Have you unplugged the Water in fuel connector to see if the light goes out? If it doesn't, then you have either a wire rubbed and grounded somewhere or a faulty PCM.....
Yes, I did unplug the connector and the light went out.
All back to normal after I disconnected the plug from the harness and sprayed a liberal amount of electrical parts cleaner
on both connections and blew dry with a hair dryer... Thanks to all for the advice. Lesson? Don't use a hose or pressure washer under the hood without Saran wrapping the wif connector wires to the harness. Of course it could have been the wires at the filter end, though I cannot see how... . And I would NEVER leave the TPS or PCM exposed... .
