I have a 2000 , 2500 stock Dodge that is giving me fits. Recently, upon starting, but not always. the fuel, engine, abs,air bag, fuel, etc lights will come on and the gages, tachometer and speedometer don't function and the odometer window will read "no bus". After driving 5 to 20 miles everything functions normally but my mechanics software reads a fault in the ECM pin connection. The service manager at the local dealership says the problem is in the gages. Anyone out there have a similar problem or any ideas how to trouble shoot.

The truck is a 5. 9 diesel with a 5 speed.

I had the same problem about 3 months ago. I also have 2000 CTD with 5 speed. I was at wits end and brought it in to local mechanic. They eventually (2 trips) told me that I needed a new dash... with new odometer burnt in... big $. I was aware that my alternator was on its way out, so I changed out my alternator (it was occasionally overcharging), my batteries, cleaned all contacts, and guess what? I havent had a problem with my dash / gauges since... . not sure why, but it worked. So far so good, knock on wood. Hope this helps.

Yes like he said above CLEAN and STRAIGHTEN all of the pins going in and out of the connecters. I had the dreaded "no bus" in my 2000 auto as well! I tried just about everything including a new ECM!!! big bucks and still didn't fix it and finally I took my time and cleaned and straighted them all and it worked ever since! But this is a problem that is no fun to chase down by far, good luck!
