Hi,

I'm hooking up my Gauges today and I have no idea what wire under the dash to hook my gauge lights to.

I want to be able to control the intensity instead of just being on all the time. Anybody have an idea, in my 04. 5.

I used the A/C-Heater Control connector C1 (the 16-pin connector) located behind the heater control panel on the dash. There are 2 connectors there: one large rectangular 10-pin unit, and a smaller 16-pin unit. Cavity 8 on the 16-pin connector (a 20 ga. orange wire with yellow stripe) is the panel lamps driver.

That's one idea. There are other options, but since that's what I used it's the one I have marked in my wiring diagram. :)

Behind the headlight switch, there is a orange/white wire, just hook to that with a crimp connector. This is what I did, and it works great, and is easy to get to. The small panel the switch is located in just comes out with a small screw driver to "pry" the panel out... ..... does'nt require much pressure.
