This is it third dashboard assembly that has burned out in my truck, with 31000 miles and getting closer to being out of a warranty. It’s not a fuse, it’s the whole dash assembly that burns out, I have nothing attached to the wiring harness or the light wiring, it just stops working and I take it to the dealer and they replace the dashboard. With really no answer to the problem except it must be a bad assembly? Has anyone had this problem? It seems to only happen at night? LOL:-laf But they work just fine than, you‘ll just turn them on one night and they don’t work. I’m just getting really sick of this, #@$%! and my dealer said it’s about $600 for the dash assembly each time. Any help??? :{

I wonder if there's something wrong with the voltage regulation system that is spiking voltage and blowing the bulbs.

It's only the instrument cluster lights, around the gauges? What year is the truck?

Ryan

Just the dashboard and the lights around the climate control dials. The dashboard is a complete assembly you just can't change the bulbs like the older trucks. it's 2008 mega-cab

Ah, so it's all the little light bulbs in the dashboard. That really makes me suspect a voltage problem.

Are there any common occurrances after which the lights burn out? Are you located in a sufficiently cold environment that the heater grids are operating every morning?

Ryan

No they work just fine one day than the next time you turn them on theres nothing they don't even come on for a second their just dead. The dealer says you can see the burned up spot on the backside of the assembly, now I don't know if it's the same spot every time or not. i'm planing on taking it in the first of the week. I'm located in southern Michigan, I've had the dash already replaced once this summer.

Just got back from my dealer. They found the problem (I hope). on the drivers side the sun viser lighted mirror wire was shorting out on the mounting screw. been that way since it was built! i had just moved the visor down a couple days before to put my insurance up there. warranty is going to cover everything. still a little upset about the quality? wonder what else is lurking around the corner?
