what are the benefits of a dash mat? One of those things I've never understood... . are they really worth it?

Hopeful to keep you dash from cracking and if that's all it does, it's worth it.

Does someone have pics of the Coverking polycarpet vs. the molded that Geno's sells? There has to be a reason for the $20 price difference. Also, do they both attach w/ velcro? Or do they have the super gription liner on the back? Thanks.

Grizzly,

Do most of the trucks in the southern tier states use a "dash cover" of some sort?

Just curious, don't see to many trucks up here in Iowa that use them. A few do though.

I would imagine you would get more intense heat and sunlight than we do.

Yep, they're worth it...

My dash has a multitude of cracks/splits, I thought I'd just get it replaced before my extended "Dodge Max Care" warranty ran out, bumper to bumper, guess what... . not covered, :-{} $462 for the part 10hrs labor $1000+- to replace. It will get covered up thank you very much. Don't let this happen to you. I will never buy another extended warranty. Sorry for the rant.

Has anyone found a dashmat that is made to cover the 3-gauge dash pod as well? I've been wanting to get a dashcover, but haven't come up with a good solution.

I know I could cut a hole for it, but would rather find one made to fit. --Eric

We do get more intense heat then you would in Iowa, plus we get an average of 364 days a year of sunshine. The other thing that will crack a dash is dust and we get more of that then you would in a wetter climate.

Use the link provided by Jefff929 and order the Ultimat. It fits better than any other dashmat I have tried. I have them on all my vehicles.

My vote is for the molded mat from Genos, yes it comes with velcro, and it fits very well. It will help keep the dash from drying out and cracking. As far as I know there no product out there that will garrenty that there product will keep the dash from cracking.

I also have the Ultimat on my truck. Fits extremely well & well worth the $$$.

Aside from the potential cracking without using the mat,

on a hot day it keeps the dash area from being a huge heat soak.

All that mass takes forever for the AC to cool down rather than just the air

in the cab. Keeps the steering wheel cool to the touch also.

I bought my truck used, so was stuck with the colors. The interior is black, not good for this 'hood. I got a tan dash cover from Cabela's that does help with the heat problem. That big flat black surface would get right warm if I was out on the boat all day. The cover also helps keep the usual dozen or so dash dwellers in place. This one doesn't have velcro, but it fits perfectly.

Hello all, I am looking for info regarding dash covers. I know that I would like a molded one, like Genos has or the ultimat, but I am also hoping that someone might make a molded cover with a suede or velour type cloth, as opposed to the carpet type. Any info or links?? TIA
