I just purchased a Dash Pod to mount my gauges in the truck. Do you guys know of any high quality UV protectant paint that I can use, and hopefully match my charcoal color dash? Thanks

Kevin, you may want to try the dealer. I'm not sure about the dash, but lots of guys get paint for their new a-pillars there.

Good Luck,

Pete

Kevin,I used the agate paint from dealer here in Castle Rock, they had to order it. I used it on my A-pillar mount and Geno's cup holder. Good match. I now use "303" protectant on interior (dash etc. )FWIW

Kevin-
I ordered the paint from the dealer. I also have the dash pod and it matches the dash perfectly. Remind the dealer that the dash is not the same color as the A-pillar so that you get the right color.

Where can these dash pods be seen? One of the things holding me back from getting guages is a mount I like, and the A pillar is not satisfactory to me. I would much prefer it to be mounted on top of the present dash.

<font color=blue>Here is a picture of mine, however the picture does not do it "justice". It looks much better in person, I'll try to locate a better picture of it after work tonight.

I got my dash pod from GoFastParts.com for $39. Really like it but a little harder to install than the A-pillar setup. I prefer the dash pod over the A-pillar after having both.

I bought mine through Summit Racing. At the time it was special order, but I heard that they stock the item regularly now, since K_Arts got his in less then 3 days. Not sure on the price but mine was $54 several months ago. Ask any of the people that saw mine in CO, it looks great in person.

Even tho it only lists 98 to 99 for the 15002 part number, Kevin has a 2000 and I have a 2001, we both ordered the #15002 dash pod, I know for a fact it works on 2001 #ad

Guys, I know this is probably inappropriate to list company and price, But I purchased mine at Summit Racing, just like Kat said. The price was $52. 95 and they shipped it 2nd day. I do have to say that Summit Racings customer service was Great!!

I really have to agree with what Kat said about his picture. The dash pod looks a lot different in person. I was going to get the A Pillar cause I like the way that they look in the truck. But being in the driver seat is a whole different ballgame. I got to drive in a buddies truck, before I bought my gauges, that has an A Pillar. The gauges look cool, but having the gauges right there in my face was uncomfortable, and there was a huge blind spot. Though once I saw Kat's dash pod, I knew that is exactly what I was looking for. Hopefully I can get some paint and get mine installed here pretty soon and get you guys some pics.

Kev

<font color=blue> Member to Member price listing is ok as far as I know. Its not a group purchase so personally I don't see a problem with it. SO feel free to post the prices to your hearts content #ad

Is that a regularly stocked item now at Summit? Reason I ask when I ordered mine it was special order.

Picked up my 15002 from Diesel Injection Service for approx $45. 00, http://www.dieselpage.com. They didn't have them in stock, they had it dropped shipped to me directly from the Autometer plant in Utah. Nice folks at DIS, they actually provide customer service.

KatDiesel and others with the dash mount,

How did you route your wires when you set up your mount. I finally got around to installing mine in my 97'. I could not decide if I should drill a big hole under where the mount goes or run the wires behind the dash. I opted to go behind the dash. I used a round rasp to notch a slot out for the wires. I am not happy with the results. The bend the wires need to make binds them up and makes for difficult handling. I had to button up the truck to use it but I think I will be going back in and drilling the big hole anyway. That way, I could pull the excess back into the dash behind the radio and let it coiled there.

QRTRHRS -

Drilled a hole in the dash and ran wires through it. If I ever remove it I can use a plastic plug over the hole, and or also a dashmat. I don't plan on removing it anytime soon.

Good luck.

KatDiesel,

Thanks, I don't know why I hesitated to drill it to start with. I usually just charge right in, drill(s) in hand!

... . alright Kat, where's your 50 psi boost gauge?

Dash mount -VS- A-pillar mount: I WAS going to add the dash mount too, adding more VDO Vision gauges until I decided to order my $PA combination gauges to replace them (i. e. , monitor 6 functions with 3 gauges). Besides, I prefer the A-pillar setup... I don't want to miss viewing one square inch of my Air Bulldog inductiuon hood. #ad

<font color=blue> Its sitting right here. Until I change the turbo I will not be exceeding the 35 psi on that gauge and I like it better because its divided out slightly better when making test runs ect. When the HX40 goes on so will the 50lb gauge. Still waiting on Jet-Hot on the HX and the ATS tho.

Drilled hole in the dashboard????

I ran my wires up the side of the dash (under the driver's side A-pillar) and the entire harness tucks down between the windshield and dashbaord. There is no evidence of the wire harness nor a hole in the dashboard.
