I have the 06 and it has the woodgrain dash accent around the radio and on the front door panels. has anyone changed these out? the dealer says they cant get me the silver ones unless i have a vin for a truck with the ones i want. would anyone want to trade? or have an idea what part numbers they are? I hate the woodgrain look.

If you can't find someone to trade, it should be a simple matter to paint the one you have.

Or you might even be able to cut and bend a thin (say 1/16") piece of aluminum to glue over top of the existing trim.

Dash is easy, if you have the money( $250+). However, the door panels are one piece ($220+ ea. x4) Believe me, I've looked into it. I hate the woodgrain too.

Just copy down the vin of a truck on the lot that has the parts you want.

A paint shop may also make them more to your liking for less $.

Lastly, I know it's laughable, but a black permanent marker might work. Go with the grain.

If you're gonna throw them or repaint, you might as well experiment.

I've seen photos somewhere of a truck with repainted fake wood dash panels. The owner removed and repainted them and they looked great.

I think it was a fellow TDR member and he posted the photos. You might try doing a search here.

The silver sucks something fierce. My truck is silver outside with gray interior so the silver looks really nice but it blinds you every time the sun hits it just right, especially when it reflects from just below the A/C vent. It seems all the odd angles shine right into your eye. Its almost dangerous. My windows are dark and I have a shaded headache rack I could only imagine how bad it would be with out the tint.

What about leaving the stock dash parts and getting a dash kit you like that sticks onto the existing?

IMHO, would be a less PIA than trying to remove the original

on my 06 wood grain door inserts i removed door panel then used a 4" grinder to remove the melted blob of plastic that holds the wood grain piece on. i then covered the piece with a carbon fiber sticker material i purchased on egay. i drilled a 1/16" hole from the rear of the panel on the peg that was melted. i installed the panel and then used 3/8" long button head wood screws to hold the panel in. it looks better than the wood grain now.

as for the dash trim i have not tackled that yet, but since my ac blows hot on the passengerside and my warranty is out i will be removing the dash this winter and will paint the dash trim then.

I have a silver '06 that had woodgrain when I bought it. Can't stand woodgrain, never will. I swapped my dash and door panels with silver ones from an '07 at work. HUGE improvement!! It actually fits the truck. Someone mentioned above they have glare issues with the silver bezel, I don't. I've had it for about 2 years now living in Arizona, California and Wisconsin and haven't had a bit of glare problems.

If you can swing it, do it. I couldn't imagine spending that much money on a truck I had to drive every day just to be disappointed every time I got in it.

Trust me; you want to keep the wood grain. Its replacement, the gray paint will wear off in a matter of time and you're off painting your dash.

You are getting robbed if you spend over $100 for a new dash bezel. I replaced mine with the double din one for a stereo upgrade and paid $89. Talk to the fellas at dodgeparts.com Give them a call and talk to Doug. I live near the dealership that supports the site and meet him in person. This guy really knows his stuff. You may need the vin but I don't think he will have a problem getting you what you want. I also would search some of the forums who support the hemi world. Not to turn down TDR at all, this is the best site ever… but the hemi guys are all about pimping out the interior, there may be a carbon fiber kit for our dash the TDR guys haven't seen yet.
