Has anyone figured out the best way to disable the daytime running lights intermittently. I'd like to be able to flash my lights for passing big rigs. This is for a '97 3500.

You can try putting a switch in-line on pin 5 of the DRL module. Pin 5 is the ignition sense. Disconnect it, and the DRLM will think the key is off. .

You can *also* try setting the parking brake, as that switch is fed into the DRLM, too. If that works, it would be easier to parallel a switch there.

Just pull back on the signal stalk. It'll flash the highs to full brilliance. At least, it does in Kanada on the non-sports.

I want to disable them on my wife's Blazer too.

I know the parking brake switch will do it part of the time. At night all the lights come on automatically. I would like to be able shut them all off when wanted - it's a dangerous design for women or anyone who wants to hide in a parking lot or anywhere when there's a stange person around.

DRL disable on blazer

At least with the older blazers all you had to do was pull the dRl fuse in the fuse box. This worked on a 95 blazer hard to say if it still works

I tried this and it didn't seem to work. I'll investigate further as I have time. BTW, it's a 98.

Thanks,

DRL

I have an 01. 5 built in st. louis, and it doesn't have DRL. Whats the deal? some do, some dont? (personally i don't want it)

Just wondering what's up? confused:

I just use the high beam flash to signal on the road, or the parking brake to cut off my headlights when I do not want them on w/ engine running. I have a CANADIAN truck that was built in MEXICO that I bought in the USA. The best quote that I heard from the dealer when buying is that the "previous owner" had the lights "rigged" up to daytime for insurance purposes, i. e. , he had know idea it was a Canadian truck nor did he know the specs of them..... Yes it was a 5 Star... .

It's not my truck, belongs to a friend. Has what most 12 valvers drool for, #8 plate, 16cm turbo, 3k GSK, and this week 370 injectors all personally tuned by Piers.
