Last month someone said they had the DRL's turned on when they had the TSB flashed.

Went in last Monday and had it done. Am really happy with the results. I think it was the first one the dealer had turned on as they were not sure about it till after the fact.

By the way, the fast idle option (1500rpm) is only for automatics.

2004. 5 standard cab, bed liner, soft tonneau cover, Auto Meter boost, temp and ET guages in middle of consul; 6 speed, block heater connection in front and back with snap down covers; Mopar winter cover, seat covers, Husky floor mats

Nuthin personal, I just can't do DRL's. If they can't see the big blue thing coming maybe they should just put the phone down.

All (3rd Generation) CTD trucks are capable of automatically increasing idle speed at various times. The flash specifically for I think 04+ automatics (and microswitch kit for 2005+ manual transmission trucks supposedly) is to allow you to manually control the idle speed from 1000-1500 RPM's via the cruise control buttons.

As for DRL's it's good to know it's possible, but I can't see much of a use for it, save for places requiring it by law, since if one needs their lights on presumably they should know they should have them on, although I have seen quite a few people driving in dark conditions with no lights at all. I'm just glad we don't have those stupid automatic headlights like the newer GM's have. It's good none of the GM owners I know use my truck, lest they forget to turn the lights on or off when needed.

You got it 100% correct except that it's 1100 - 1500 RPM's. ;)

As for DRL's... I refuse to own a vehicle with them (unless it becomes law, that is :( )

Back when I rode a motorcycle, they mandated "headlights on" for bikes. The rational then was that the smaller vehicle needed the light for increased visibility. It was a bit of a groaner, but at least it made some sense.

Now, if all the cars & trucks have DRL's what happens to the motorcycles? They become invisible again.

Government at work. :-{}

DRL's

DRL's are a major contributor to the dumbing down of the american driver!

To start most people used to turn their lights on when it started to rain; now they figure "I have running lights I don't need to turn on my lights", DUH, that doesn't turn on your taillights, so now we have all these idiots with their running lights on and no taillights That makes it very difficult when some dipstick is below the speed limit in the hammer lane! Second, The Feds mandated the use of headlights by motorcycles, this takes away from the recognition of motorcycles! Although I don't ride and wish my sons didn't I really don't like the fact that with running lights we lose sight of the motorcycles on the road!

For several reasons DRLs are an extremely Badidea.

Just my opinion

DRL's, seat belts, air bags, padded dashes, side impact beams, crumple zones, 5 mph bumpers, radios, tinted windows, automatic transmissions !! Who needs that junk. Gimmie a '49 Hudson any day ( with a CTD of coarse )

The service writer (one who I trust-usually they only know how to hold a pencil) said the aitomatics were only available to advance the idle for faster warm-ups and reduce coking via the cruse control buttons.

Without taillights in bad weather, headlights are worthless, but what about those that drive with only their parking lights on? Maybe the novality will burn off, but today on the 2 lane state highway those with some front lighting stood out a lot more than those without any.

See and be seen is a good rule to drive by, I have enough trouble being seen in traffic with full 360's on with everyone on their phones or 8 million watts of cd pumping away. I've come up on people asleep at the wheel and with lights/siren and air hornes still could not get their attention.

True, we have more than enough rules, need to enforce some of them before making more.

DRLs are not a good idea if you drive lots of two lane highways like I do. DRLs from a vehicle down the road make judging distance to pass harder. No problem if the vehicles have no DRLs. Signiling truckers ,when they pass, its ok to merge is impossible. Which I could deactivate the DRLs on my wifes LeSabre. My '03 6 spd has the fast idle that only runs at 1000-1200 RPM. With the EB it warms much quicker than my old '01 auto did... ... ... . JIM
