To any one who has a factory service manual; can you tell me where to look for the daytime running light module?

I know you can buy after market stuff, but I was told there may be a possibility that the truck is already wired and I would only have to buy the module.

My FSM won't be here till next week.

Much appreciated.

DRL on an old dinosaur I doubt it. You'll more than likely need an aftermarket setupl. Or run with your lights on all the time.

The 92 & 93 Canadian trucks show the DLR Module was mounted near the windshield wiper fluid reservoir. Not sure what year the DLR was implemented, may even be earlier than 92. The connector has ten pins doesn't spec the color. The manual states that only Canadian trucks were equiped with this, which seems to apply to your truck if it was initially sold in Canada.

I wish

Bill: We have to have the running lights operational when the truck is running. I think it became law here in 1990.

Paychk: The reason I was asking was I was led to believe they were all wired for it and the only difference was they supplied the module for canadian trucks. But if your manual states otherwise, then I will probabaly have to hard wire the contraption. At least I know where to look. Thanks

Since I bought my truck up in Todd Chrysler-Kamsack, Saskatchewan and repatriated it here in NJ. It has the super elusive daytime running lamp option.

It is right under the windshield washer unit.

Unfortunately I need to replace the unit as it isn't working. I hope I can get it at the dealer. It is part of the wiring harness and supposedly turns my lights on at 50% or something when it detects motion.

location

Hey Headshot... ... ... ... ... ... ... thanks for the pic. I now know where to look. I wonder why the heck they put it over on that side :--) especially when the wiring for the lights run along the drivers side.

The pic helps. Up here you can buy the modules at the dealer or pretty well any automotive parts supply store.

Thanks again

One of the guys I met here at one of our local gatherings made DRLs on his 96 by using a relay and closing it with an oil pressure switch off the top of his oil filter housing.

Jsut a thought.

There must be some award for intergalactic cleverness that we could give that guy.

hmmmmm... ... ..... I thinking a horn would be funny, or is that just me.

I just ordered a module... ... owie $126. 00 w/tax. Anyway, it will be in tomorrow with some gaskets. Finally installing my stage 3 meth injector.

Tkingsbury, they're not required, but I like to have the lights on when moving. Sometimes I forget to turn 'em on at/near dusk or in the rain. My 92 is dark gray and really hard to see against a dark background.

I like to let people know I'm there so I stand less of a chance of killing them - or being killed.

I'm going to look into this relay idea.

DBF

Well it was something on my truck that wasn't working. It would have been the easiest fix had it worked. Its probably one of the few trucks in the states that has it. Just like my speedometer. I probably have one of the few that has the kilometers on the outside and mph on the inside. In the whole scheme of things it really doesn't matter.

In Jersey you really want strobes to avoid being hit anyway :)

It had to be built as an export model "to Canada". Actually mine came back on a few weeks ago and are now working fine. Must have been a grounding problem with the new module. It appears as though they turn on the brightlights at 1/2 power or so they generate light towards traffic rather then the low beams which directs them towards the ground.

After market

Hey DBF... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . The module cost $25. 00 and about 2 hours to put in... ... ..... Would have taken less time if I wasn't so aprenhensive (scared to screw up).
