Well I figured I would change the fuel filter. I dreaded changing it on my '95 and I let DC know how much of a PITA it was  . Now with the '01. 5 and electric lift pump (no manuel prime) I changed it in about 10 minutes. After I changed the cartridge and put it together I bumped the started two seprate times and listened to the lift pump. On the third bump just to make sure it was primed, it fired right up :D . Thanks to all who posted on filter changes. Sam.

Dawg... good job! Did ya have any grit in the bottom of your filter canister?

The 2000 and up seem to be harder to check for dirt/grit... the 99 and down are harder to remove.

If DC was really listening, I think they would have put a bit of each design into it!

Yes,the newer style is waaaaaayyy easier than the 95-95 style, but I sure like that manual prime button. When my wife ran out of fuel in her '95,all it took was less than 2 minutes of priming and the truck started. When I ran out of fuel it took 40 minutes to bleed the lines at the injectors, and I was lucky to be carrying a wrench that day. That manual prime would be nice for injector swaps too.
