greetings, all

just got a care package with some mag-hytech stuff (diff and transmission) and an EVS II alarm.

i am electronically impaired, but if this is plug an' play then i can do the install. has anyone done this? anyone in the sf bay area recommend a place to have it installed inexpensively (but, well)? what about a local dodge dealer?

any insights would be appreciated.

thanks in advance.

I installed the EVSII in my 99 Ram, my wifes 98 Neon R/T, and my dad's 99 Intrepid. Its very easy. The hardest parts are unplugging the door harness and finding a place under the hood to mount the horn.

No real electrical knowledge is needed - just a few hours of time and some tiny hands to unplug the door harness. Let me know if you have any specific questions on the install.

i'll let you know if i try it or if i chicken out and pay someone to do it. i cracked one of the boxes and saw some wire splicing going on, but still am not intimidated... . yet. i'll read through the entire instructions before i tackle the job.

where did you mount the blinking red light and disable button?

There is one splice that has to be made. I think its the yellow dome light wire if memory is correct.

I looked long and hard to find a good place for the blinking red light. I finally settled on the center console (mine is a 6 speed) because it had good access from the inside to get the wires run and I could safely drill into it without worrying about going through something expensive and unseen. If you take off the shift lever boot there is lots of room under there. I just couldn't find a good place on the dash that I could get to the back of, and the red light is still plainly visible from the outside.

I ended up mounting the horn under the hood to the right wheel well. If you mount it there, be careful to mount it far enough back so it doesn't block oil filter removal.

Good luck!

Several of the Dodge dealerships in my area install the EVS II L. E. D. to the left of the gauge cluster, towards the bottom of the "V" area in the dash fascia.

Vic is correct, one yellow wire must be spliced per installation instructions.
