Alot of us are upset with DC over common equipment failures on our trucks. Some failures are safety related and some are not, However they are reaccuring problems do to poor designs and failure to comply with manufactures directions(fuel pump location).

:D here is what we can do as a whole. File a complaint to NHTSA(NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRANSPORTATION SAFETY ADMINISTRATION) on your individual problems, safety and non safety.

Here's the link to file the complaint.

Fuel pumps are on the list of safety problems due to stalling in traffic. Browse the site for a list safety subjects at

~Recall Process~

Spread the word around(other forums), the more complaints, the better our chances are.

I agree that the pump and location is a problem, but just so you realize, this pump and it's design and location is not Daimler Chryslers fault... this is purely Cummins' fault, this is the way they made it and deliver it to Dodge.

If a recall happens, I wonder how someting like this would be fixed if made to do so by the NHTSA. Since Cummins is the designer and builder I would think they would have to be the one to retro-fit the transfer pump.

Complaining to the NHTSA works. I give much credit to the folks here on TDR lodging complaints that lead to the throttle cable recall on 12 valves. Cummins sells Dodge our engines without a warranty, it is Dodge's responsibility to cover it. If you do lodge a complaint be sure to word it in a manner that stresses the safety problem involved. Sudden engine shut down on a freeway or instersection would be the about the only one. Poor power/no starts won't be considered.
