An injector swap in a third gen took me about 3 hours my first time. That's all 6. I could probably do it again in closer to 2. What they allocate I have no idea.
The procedure used on mine in the past was a combination of injector kill tests and stopping a stuck open injector by removing the line from the common rail that supplys fuel to said injector and plugging off that line. I was told that injectors which are stuck may only be tested and replaced one at a time.
Fuel flow rates may also be used to determine a bad injector or pump.
Drop the truck off. They diagnose it the first day and call STAR to get told to swap holes with a good injector. A savvy tech will use a workaround to get the injectors on order sooner sometimes. 2-3 days later a new injector (or injectors) arrives and is installed post haste after you call the service person and tell them you need the truck for the weekend. See, easy. I usually drop the truck off for a week for this exercise. (two times so far, and I think a third time will be necessary as I hear one knocking again intermittently. )
