I spoken with engineers at NVG about the shifting on my 5600 and they said the thing should shift better than the 4500 in my '96. Had me check for clutch drag by putting the trans in reverse - just past the blocking ring - and letting the clutch out so you can hear/feel it clicking 'teeth'. Push the clutch pedal back down and count how long it takes for the noise to stop - should be less than ~2 seconds. Well it was more like 3-3. 5 seconds in my case. So it appears something is dragging/not releasing. Trans has been replaced under warranty but the clutch, pilot bushing & clutch hydraulics are all original equipment.
Does anybody have a contact name/number at DC that I can talk to regarding the 'approved' DC test for determining if the clutch is not fully releasing/pilot bearing dragging/hydraulics not fully travelling? I'd like to talk directly to DC before going back to my dealer.
