I called a few places and can't find MOOG or DANA ball joints for my 2000 4x4 2500 truck. Do I really get to spend $850 for 4 F------ ball joints?? Also, what about the front bearing carriers, dirt road has tore up my front end with only 83K miles. . I need at least one new carrier assy. Has anyone been able to replace the bearings only in the carrier or is this also DEALER ONLY???

I got my ball joints from Auto Zone. They have grease fittings and are life time garantee. I think they were around $45. 00 I think the whole hub assembly is about $250. 00 from the dealer. Jeff

Carquest, Advance, Auto Zone, NAPA - No listing. Auto Zone says we have NO listing for 99 and up 2500 4X4... What part # did you get?? 98 and below is ok but DANA 60/99 up ball joints appear to be dealer item @ $218 ea!

Ingle is great - they offer ONLY the uppers for $66 each. They are adjustable for caster & camber. Slight problem for the do-it-your-selfer is that you need to know alignment specs prior to removal of your old ones to properly press Ingles into the upper mount. Meaning, unless you have your own rack, you will have to have someone else install them which raises your total cost to repair back to the same amount! So, pay DC for $$$ ball joints or pay your local alignment shop labor to "properly" mount the Ingles. Can't believe the pain for what I thought was going to be a $29 alignment!! If anyone else has the need to adjust a tracking/camber-caster issue, I would strongly recommend them.

UPDATE - First, the $218 ball joints are a PAIR of one upper and one lower for one side. So the actual cost is $436 for a complete set of ball joints from DC. The bearing carrier's cost $325 each for 4WD. The best thing here is that DC is going to replace ALL under my extended warranty for a $50 deductible! One happy camper here. Sure hope the aftermarket people step up and produce some $65 ball joints for the next set I will need, out of warranty. :(

I would rather pay for MOOG than have DC put stock stuff back but my NAPA guy says his MOOG rep says NO listing for 2000 2500 4X4. Sometime around late 98 early 99 their must have been a major steering and brake change? If you have a part # I will track it down. Still waiting for dealer to get parts...

raf2000... ..... I have to work this morning... ... ... When I get back I will try and track down the part nmber for you... ... I ran into the same problem when mine went bad... ... . I was at the shop all day with the mechanic with the same problem..... finally he just called everybody... and had them bring ball joints by... ..... matched them up according to the old ones and also how tight they fit. Well that was 15000 miles ago and have not had a problem... ... . He explained to me why all the parts houses had a problem finding the correct number in their books... ..... but i can't remember his answer... ... . He did a good job on my truck and i am happy with the outcome.

Moog Ball Joints.......

raf2000... ... ... Sorry i took so long on looking up those ball joints from moog... ... ... . but i just pulled out my receipt from the shop i had them done at... ..... and all i can see on there is K7269... ... Check with your local parts house and see if this is the moog number... ... ... i paid $92. 77 ea. I was right there with the mechanic working with him... ... so i got to see everything he did... . even getting ****** off because the parts house kept bringing him the wrong joints... ... finally got it taken care of though... . hope this helps.

I am having this same problem. I took my truck in becasue it pulls right and all the steering was in specs on the alighn. The just told me he cant find the right part numbers for the balls joints and didnt know what to tell me. keep us updated.

When I needed u-joints for the front axles they couldn't find the right ones at first. this was on my 95 truck. They looked it up under the 3500 series and found them. Maybe they can try a search that way for the ball joints. Just a thought. Jeff
