Time to send DC a big biotch about their new and improved "anti-spin diff. Anti-spin my @ss. The only thing this diff is good at is spinning. That is with only one wheel having traction at any given time. I have done everything but throw my Ol' lady under the rear wheels in an attempt to get better traction to both wheels. Serious, all TDR members need to band together and send DC a butt load of complaints with their "anti-spin" diff.

I was at work and pulled into a one of our heated hangers to do some mods on my rig.

There was snow on the ground outside, as I do live in Alaska. Anyway, while backing out of the hanger, the truck wouldn't move as the snow had melted from under the fender and had fallen under the tires. As I attemted to back out the rear tire just spinned. You know, the only one that has traction. I was stuck, on level concrete due to snow that had melted under my tires. My $40,000 truck, the one that has enough torque to pull the panties off the entire Dallas Cowboys chearleaders squad at idle, but can't back out of a hanger that has a wet floor.

What gives? Don't get me wrong I love my rig, but this damn anti-spin diff is an over whelming failure at best! I am sending DC an e-mail asking for a refund on the anti-spin diff, so I can go buy a real Limited slip diff that works..... Looking for support from other members that are as dissatisfied about this anti-spin diff, as I am. Thanks fellas,

T-man :{

I should have clarified in my post, the anti-spin diff doesn't work any better in forward. This was just the last straw for me. And yes, I have tried stepping on the brakes to send some torque biasing to the rear wheels, still doesn't work for crap.

Then I tried the parking brake trick, no good either. .

You shouldn't have to stand on your head for the anti-spin to work properly. I had a chevy 4X4 with limited slip, that worked great! Both resar wheels had traction, go figure. Ok, guys the chevy only rules in the limited slip department. My dodge ROCKS!!!

You should have that rearend checked out Tman. . I have an 03 and my father also has a 03 and both limited slips do the the job. In fact under heavy acceleration while turning I sometimes feel my rearend hop or chirp. Have you had the cover off to inspect the setup?

No. I haven't had the cover off. But know for sure it definately has the anti-spin diff? Thought I had a open diff the way it was acting.

I drove my personal truck to work the other day so I could bring some extra block left home for my ongoing home project. It had rained for several days and the site and entrance to it were in pretty bad shape. I have had quite a few trucks stuck and spinning madly in the mud to get around. My one ton that has the limited slip was not phased. It never slowed or got bogged down. It just drove around normal through the mud unloaded and loaded like I was on hard pavement. It took me about 20 minutes to clean all the mud from under the truck and another hour of washing to get it cleaned up, but I am now officially sold on it. I have no apprehensions about getting traction in areas where the conditions are not ideal. Mind you I'll stay clear of the 3 ft deep mud bogs. My Ramcharger which had limited slip never came close to this type of performance. My company truck is a Furd without limited slip. Oh my poor back!

The LSD's in my Dodges work pretty dang good, maybe yours just needs an adjustment? The one in my Ford is so pathetic it might as well not even be in there. The Chevy uses a locker that automatically disengages at a certain speed but from a start it locks up and moves the truck. It is one of the few things GM got right on that truck:rolleyes:

I was backing out of my neighbors concrete driveway, which is a steep hill. I hit a patch of ice at the bottom and it left two black marks, so it works to some extent in reverse...

tman,

my '04 does the exact same thing as yours. wonder if maybe we didnt get what we paid for?? all the numbers match but that doesnt mean they actually put it in the truck. it might be worth pulling the cover or at least the fill plug to get a look see. i have it in the shop now, i think i will pull the plug after lunch.

I want to see this Dallas test in person. Please let the rest of us know when this will be re-enacted, so we can bring our video cameras to record the data. Yeah, that would work.

Well I just decided to try my anti spin out here in the parking lot at work, and I got 2 30 foot long black stripes to prove it's working well!!!!!!!!

YEEEEEHAAAAAWWWWWW!!!!

Oo.

There was a thread on here a couple months ago about same problem. What was determined was that the rear end would go "posi" when on two like traction surfaces but when wildly different surfaces like ice on one and dry pavement on other then it only spins tire on ice. Suggestions at time were to apply some brake to give some resistance and make the AAM axle engage the mechanial locking mechaism it is not a clutch pack. Cannot make everything work right at all times as the AAm does not have wear issues like clutches but does not have the super low traction abilty that the DANA did.

Mine works sometimes. . it seems to be hit or miss. It's annoying but it's just as easy to throw it in 4x4 and rock'n roll it that way. Just my thoughts on that.

The 04 I have access to has the same problem, the LSD is CRAP!!

What was wrong with the Dana? Some been counter looking for a raise? My old 99 is starting to look pretty good, at least till they get some of the bugs out of the 04's. It has 120k on a Dana 70 with 0 probs including the no spin.

So far I haven't had any complaints about the LSD. What I would like to know is what is the difference between the Chevy AAM 11. 5 LSD and the Dodge? If the Chevy AAM works better is it possible to change out the axle or gears?
