Installed the DD2s today. WOW:eek:  Damn thing got western on me as soon as I dropped the hammer!! Boost peak at about 25 psi and pyro at about 950* post. At about 3000rpm it surged some, maybe defueling for to much boost. Only drove a few miles tonight, but clutch never slipped so maybe it will be ok:( I'll post again in aday or so with more results. Pusher pump, banjos and fuel line kit go in tomorrow.

Turboman,

I'm looking to order a set of DDIIs also. You will have to give us an update on mileage if you can keep your foot out of it.

Have Fun!

Thinking about D.D.2s

Thanks for the heads up,Turboman. As soon as my BOMBing budget will allow it they'll be going in:) . I just put my 5" stacks on and I need some more smoke;) :D . Doug

Turboman,

DD2's do kick a**, but something isn't right about your boost. You should be making at least 30-33psi of boost with those DD2's especially if you already have a Van Aaken on your truck. Do you not have an electronic boost module on (if the VA box doesn't have one built-in), and did you install the brass boost restricter on the turbo wastegate? My 2's hit 33 with out any additional boxes.

MikeR,

No boost fooler, old VA box. For comparison, Stock it run 55-80mph in 6th in 18 sec ( I say stock, I put the 4" pipes and the big K&N on before it had 200 miles on it) With just the VA box in run it in 12. 5 sec, now it runs 55-80mph in 8. 5 secs:eek: I'm looking at the PE comp next. Also I put the fuel press in today. At idle saw 15psi at WOT 7-8psi. That is with only the one banjo bolt for the guage installed. I'll install the other four tomorrow and see the difference.

FFutch,

Send pics of the stacks pronto, must see!!

Anyone looking to get some DD injs, check with Ted Jannetty. He has been tons of help with advise and suggestions.

Mike is right, your boost seems way low. Get a boost module on that thing!!! 950 post seems pretty high too, the boost module will bring that down. With the old syle VA and DD1's on a 99 I saw 35 regularly (my buddy's truck:rolleyes: ). Plus you will pick up some HP with the boost module too!

Yeah, get a boost module and brass boost elbow for that truck. You are de-fueling hard core. You're forcing the truck to work above 20psi (stock fuel and wastegate level), and the ECM is cutting off your fuel flow at 20psi. You're gonna ruin the injection pump that way. I noticed your egt probe is mounted post turbo. You may want to consider installing it pre turbo because at 950deg you're pumping close to 1250deg going into the turbo. If you install a brass boost elbow, you'll be able to bring your egt's down a couple hundered degrees.

You don't have your truck and it's modifications setup right, but if you think it runs okay now, wait until you have the proper boost module and wastegate modifications done and you'll see the truck really perform. If you can borrow those items for a couple hours to test out your power, by all means try it before you condemn the truck too slow that you now need a Comp on it. Seriously... big injectors and a big box is too much for the (95%) everyday grind.

Hey Turboman, Will post pics as soon as I can. Have been awful busy lately. I've also noticed greatly reduced e. g. t. s. Maybe it's because there's absolutely no restriction at all in the exhaust system;) :D . Doug

Detuned mine for the dealer......

Had to have them program my fed PCM. Anyway I took all the goodies off except the DD2's. What a dog!! I forgot what a pig this truck was. After I reinstalled everything it seemed a little weak. Then I noticed I couldn't make over 24# of boost. Turns out the spring on my waste gate mod wasn't tight enough. After tightening down it was back to normal power... Ahhhhh :D :D

So the moral of the story is..... Get some air into that motor and you'll really appreciate the DD2's.

DD-2's last night transmission tomarrow

Yep I did it! Mass Diesel put DD-2's in last night. I've got to get to a dyno! I was turning 316 hp. with stock injetors & turbo. Now I've got DD-2's & a Piers HX-35. Some guy is claiming 401 hp. with 275's. So 316 + 85 + 15=416?? Scotty say's 375 max.

Boy when you kick it in the a$$ at 60 you go to 111 in about 3. 5 sec.  :D :D :D

I LOVE my Cummins!!!!

OH Yea 91% TC & transmission upgrades tomarrow!

jr2 beat me to it , if you like 2's you'll love the 3's ...

jes , to many guys with to much HP around here , i'm going to have to get some super mentals to keep you guys in check ... :p

see you in the AM ... you think it runs good now , wait till we get that TC in there

Turboman, they are something aren't they:D I just intalled DD2s yesterday and they do rock. Thanks to Andy Redmond and James Northum for their help. We finished after dark and on the first little test, I hit 35psi boost and 1344 egts. This was with the comp on 4/3. Now if my BHAF will come in. Anyone have any ideas what kind of hp/trq I'm probably running? There's not a good dyno around here.

With that combo Im only seeing 30lbs max. hmmm. . Probably should check those intake clamps...

Runs snappy, but at 65 cruise it runs 4 lbs / 650-700 deg, have always thought 4 lbs at cruise is on the low side.

Hey guys a bit of advice... If you were considering going w/ 275's or dd1's, get the DD2's, or else you'll always be thinking you should have done that in the first place. (am there - doing that)

But at least were having funnnnnnn!

DD2's all the way, they make the power happen.

As for EGT, they run cooler, and the power, can't keep the foot out of it. :D :D
