Finally, after all this time, I got the day that was warm enough to make the swap.

Talk about a difference!

These things made the motor run like a watch, but she makes funny noise around 2400 and up (Always did though. )

now that I see how little soot farting I get when driving it normally, I am glad I spent the extra on these and did not go for the 370's

Smooth as silk.

Thanks John! :)

Did any of you get a rich smell to the ex after doing it?

Also, is it normal to drive with traffic only using 1/8" of throttle travel? I mean I go over a bumo and just about run into the guy in front of me. VERY touchy. :)

Besides the trans sounding like it is going to come apart, when flatfooting the thing up to 2800 in 5th gear, the highest I see on the meter is 1200 and by then, the beast is going so fast, it is not a safe situation.

This surprises me because everyone seemed to say that the number 6 plate would not deal with III's, del valves, GSK. I was warned that it would run too hot... by a lot of people.

Unless my guage is wrong and I am about to melt dow a piston, the thing is FINE just like it is.

I dunno. Stock ex. cat/muff not even cut out.

Why all the talk about the #6? So far, I have not seen issues.

Sure did make a HUGE difference in the truck though.

Unless it is from all the power :D , maybe the GSK needs tweaked a little so it isn't so touchy.

Sounds like you are having fun. :D

I remember 1200 degrees ... it's been a long time. The best thing about 1200 max is there are plates with lower #'s. Oo.

Is that to suggest that MORE ex temps would be okay?

with my setups (See sig), I am seeing EGT's through the ROOF! I dont know what the deal is, maybe not enough air flow? something is going on, and I need to solve the problem PDQ! Any suggestions?

Some obvious questions:

Have the high EGTs just started recently?

What timing are you running - has it slipped?

Air filter clean?

What boost levels are you seeing - same or reduced?

Does anyone test their pyro, thermocouple etc. with a pyrometer tester to assure that gauge temp = actual temp ?

I bought one sometime ago and always ck. for accuracy prior to installing the pyro set up on a truck. Often the thermocouple causes the reading to be out of spec. ? Several hot and cold concerns have since been alieved(sp). .

Good luck

Andy
