I am considering getting some DD II's. I have seen some ads for some used injectors with low miles at a decent price.

I am planning on putting in bigger injectors anyways. If get 2's, do I need to do anything else before getting them aside from what I have done already (see sig. ), like a different plate or 3k GSK? I still have a stock transmission that still works great, so I don't want to get carried away power-wise before the transmission is BOMBed. Will they be too much HP for it?

The truck is mostly a daily driver with some towing, mostly in the spring or fall during field work.

My other thought on power upgrade would be 215's and a TST #10 or 8 plate.

Do I need a BD Pressure Loc with either option?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Excatly what he said. Start with a plate kit (get the aneroid spring if it's separate in the kit you are looking at) and gov springs. Great way to start.

Thanks for the responces so far.

Main reason I'm even considering injectors before a plate at this point, is that I want to pull mine out and having them tested.

The truck doesn't seem to run as smooth as it probably should. I adjusted the valves shortly after buying the truck. That made a huge difference. Some were way out of spec. Don't think they had been done before. Been wondering if that may have had a negative effect on the opening pressure on some of the injectors, making some stronger than others causing it.

Had to do the same thing on a 4430 tractor. Runs perfect now. Some of the springs (in the injectors) were bad and all needed new tips.

If mine need worked over, figured might as well get some that were a bit bigger for a little power. Bad idea?

Timing to 15-16 is fine and you'll never have to worry about a head gasket. On the injectors you can do it two ways, pull your and have them cleaned and test the pop offs, or decide now if you want more power than a plate will give. Most guys get a set of 215's as a bigger injector but no too big, I like the DD2's as they are a nice step up in power but not too big for daily driving and are a really nice injector with a comparable price.

The first power upgrade I did to my truck was 215 injectors. I was happy with the results. A very nice mild power upgrade. The DD2's will give you more than the 215's. I think I would try 215's a plate and GSK as the others suggested. JMHO.

Ok I am new here so help me out

Are the 215 injectors you guys are talking about the same as the ones out of the 96-98 5spds? I am buying a 98 12 valve Auto with 106k on it and a friend has his stock injectors from his 96 5spd and said he will sell them to me if I want them. They shouldn't be too much for the transmission as it seems strong and I am wondering just what I would really get out of them. Thanks Dan.

P. S. I still need to change my sig as it is still the truck I totalled last week.

Sorry to hear about your old truck. Were you able to pull your BOMBs off it?

The injectors we are talking about are the same ones installed in the 215 pumps on the 5 speed truck. I thought it was a very nice, mild upgrade (that was a long time ago :) ). I think they are good for around 15-20HP on a 180 pump.

Seeing what BOMB's you had on your previous truck, the 215's are probably a little undersized for you.
