if I run DD2's and an Ez without the pump wire will I smoke my clutch?

I know!!!

just buy the clutch and hook up the wire . right?

but aint got no money left

need time to save for clutch

thing is i dont want to buy a boost module when I know i will eventually get a box anyway:rolleyes:

I was used to the power my 99 had and i cant drive a stock one anymore

The EZ doesn't have a pump wire.

From what I've heard, your clutch should hold for a while depending on your driving habits.

Ah!!!

so the EZ is basically a boost module

or is there more

i dont have either of these yet but im doing some investigating b4 purchasing

i read b4 that you could piggyback an EZ on a pm3 or other so i figured I'd want to try that

so i didnt want to spent extra $$$$ buying the module with the injectors

Ive just gone crosseyed:confused:

Go directly and get the Edge Comp (the one with the wire) you can leave the wire unplugged at first (why you would want to do that I don't know) or just plug everything in right away.

Don't know about an EZ with a PM3

This is exactly what I did. The PE Comp is a boost AND fueling module, and can be run with or without the pump wire.

If you hook up the pump wire (even before DD2's) you can run on level 1 or 2 all the time and not overstress anything.

If you advance to level 3, you will push the pump harder, but still not slip the clutch (in my experience).

If you advance to level 4, you will push the pump even harder, but still probably not slip until you nail it in 4th or 5th (or 6th if you've got it) gear.

Level 5 is all smiles, but will slip the clutch badly in the upper gears with the stock injectors.

All of the above is based on my experience with a 2001 5spd, 15,000 miles, PE Comp hooked to the fuel pump, and straight piped exhaust. Otherwise it's totally stock.

Hope this helps. If you do decide to get the Comp and injectors, you might as well go ahead and start ear-marking those greenbacks for a Southbend or equivalent. It'll be just a matter of time before you HAVE to have it. The stock clutch simply won't last.

Two TDR/LSTDR members here in the Houston area have upgraded, one to the DD version of the EZ with DD1's, the other to an EZ with 275's. Both have slipped their clutches in heavy towing.

good point

thanks

( im kind of a tight wad )

my brother has edge comp and 01 pickup started shudder as soon as he plugged in

now he tried pm3, still doing it

my pickup isnt doing this and I dont want it to start

is this happening with 2002's?

I have 01 with the 5speed dd2's edge ez, I have towed 18000 thousand pounds, sprayer like pulling a sail the wrong direction. knock on wood but I have tried to slip the clutch no can do. Pickup has 31000 thousand miles on it has had an edge on it, at about 2200 hunderd miles.
