If i add DD3's, boost fooler, guages and an air filter w/ no other mods what problems will i run into? This should put me around 350hp at the wheels this is about all i want. would this be a viable option without using a box and raising rail pressure. Is running dd'3 going to raise rail pressure (it should not). Is there a way to get around buying DD's boost fooler for three hundred bones? I figure i will need about 35#'s boost and stock turbo should handle this and so should the 6 speed i have. I figure this is probably the limit but if i go any further i will have to spend big bucks on the transmission and 350 hp will be where i want to be anyway. are the dd3's as dependable as dd2's? will egt's be a problem w/ dd3's only? i know this is alot of questions but alot of guys dont want to raise rail pressures but want to get to 350hp.

We had our dyno run's this weekend. Fred Swanson had his 03 ETH/DEE there. He came al the way from ariz to run his truck. He has stage two's ( i think DD's ) and an edge ez and exhaust. He put down 396HP w/ stock turbo. Was a sweet run. since you are looking at spending 300 for a fooler why not spend 500 and get another 65+ hp :D ( i know higher pressures are a concern but you could run the box on 1 or 2 and still get 40+ HP w/o pressure concerns) Do a search for desert diesel products and give Fred a call he is a nice guy, seems very knowledgable and should give you some good advice.

Best regards

Stage 3' will put you in the 390-400hp range by themselves... of course, at that level you will need a different clutch, exhaust, gauges, boost fooler, turbo and airbox.

The stock airbox and turbo just aren't enough to support all that power and not have EGT issues... been there, tested that. If all you want is 350hp on a HO, The Stage 2's will put you over that, however, you will still need the exhaust, boost module, airbox and turbo, and the clutch will be at it's upper limits.

I have read that these trucks dyno around 250-260 stock if i add just dd2's how will that put me over 350hp to the wheels. i have aslo read that these turbo's will get you to 350 hp. I have also read that the stock clutch will barely hold 350 hp.

Positive about dd2's only

1. have a very nice power increase

2. will not have to change clutch

3. will not have to change turbo

4. should not raise rail pressures. I think?(let me know i am wrong about this)

5. undetectable for warranty issues

Negatives about dd2's only

1. have to keep one eye one the egt gauge at all time when pulling

2. turbo and clutch at upper limits

3. have to buy that friggin expensive boost fooler

One possibility as mentioned above is to use edge but what may be better is get the edge comp so i can turn is down in the cab all the way and still get the boost fooler without having to disconnect wires etc that i would have to do with ez.

The HO trucks have been making in the 280-285 range here, stock. Another 100hp will get you over the limit for the stock clutch, turbo and airbox.

BTW, the TTPM built in boost module will NOT work if the rail pressure connector is not connected.

KLOCK,

thanks for the info again. i was in vegas 2 weeks ago. i love that place cant wait to go back. i did not see any new dodge diesels mostly furd f250 w/ 6" lifts. i never saw one dodge/cummins isbe for and entire week i was there. what i did see was alot of dodge12v's and the some of the finest women i have ever seen.

two thumbs up for vegas only draw back it looks like it is furd country.

Just more hunting targets, that's all. Quite a few Dodge's in town over 450hp. We have two, Joe D as well as about 20+ customers that are local.

K,

Have you embarrassed any furd's on the strip or would you be put in jail for this? I will say this i did not see many cops at all in vegas. i guess this would make dusting a furd a safe not to mention easy thing.

Mainly at the track, but some on the street too. They're almost a waste of time really. There are cops everywhere here... gotta be careful.

Keith,

I'm an '01. 5 Isb guy, so I know this question is not applicapable to my truck, but was curious about your statement that the stock exhaust and airbox are not enough to support DDIII power levels. I understand about the airbox, but don't the '03s have 4" exhaust from the factory? What needs to be done to the '03 exhaust to make big HP without EGT concerns.

The turbo is about equivalent to the HY35 turbo as far as flow... which is limited to around 330-340hp. The stock exhaust is a 3. 5" exhaust, with a restrictive muffler and 4" tailpipe. Mods here definitely help.

To make big HP, a turbo and airbox are also required.

looks like 340 hp is what i want to make b/c to go up to 400hp will cost an arm and a leg. 340hp atg wheels is enough to smoke 98% of all other diesel trucks out there at least in this neck of the woods. the most you will see around here is a f250 w/ superchip and exhaust. i am guessing 260-290 at the wheels. i was behind one (f250 4x4 CC) the other day and i had a hard time keeping up w/ him. i hope he had a chip on it b/c if he didnt i have along way to go he did not have an oversized exhaust. this was with my stock tires also. now i am even slower(315's). these trucks might put out 280 to the wheels but they will barely keep up with f250 chipped, hopefully his f250 was'nt stock! he did not pull away but we where about even. it really tee me off thus the search for mods without breaking the bank, getting divorced and losing the warranty. sounds like dd2's and ez box map connection only is the way to go. 800 for injectors and 530 for box 250 guages. $1,580... . Getting up there!

what have been your guys experience w/ chevy and fords in isbe stock form... . be honest.

PD,

yes, and he even managed to blow a small amount off black smoke in my face! I am bombing this truck guages are coming w/in a month. 3 months air fillter. rest i have not decided the best way to bomb. yet!

Keith, where would Stage 1s and TTPM put you HP wise? And would that be within the limitations of the clutch? This is assuming better air intake and at least aftermarket muffler with 4" intermediate pipe to make it full 4" system.

Has there been much testing with the Stage 1 injectors as far as MPG changes? How much effect do the S1 & S2 injectors have on engine behavior, driveability, responsiveness and idle smoothness?
