What's the difference between the 370's and the DD3's other than the $$$$'s. Looks like the 370's are favored but why?

I've been reading the "370 opinions" post here and also did a lot of reading past posts found in a search but couldn't really get my answer.

I'm about to order injectors a clutch, Gov spring kit 60lb springs and some other parts for the rig but I'm a little hung up on the injectors. I'm also planning to bolt on a PDR HX40, 4" exhaust and brake in the near future.

Hopefully one of these days I'll keep the rubber cookin into 3rd :D

Mike

I once saw Joe Donnally say that the 370's avrage about 7hp more then DD3's. Also I saw Piers say that they offer the best "bang for the buck". For the price difference I would go with the 370's.

This comming from a 24ver,:)

Wow that was quick, thanks!

What about smoke at idle would one have more than the other? I wonder why the DD3's are another $150? I'm figuring I'll end up at around 400+ hp soon and wonder if I'll miss the 7 or so horsies.

Sorry for all the Q's, I'll probably go with the 370's but I always like to entertain all the options.

Thanks again

Mike

Well I think that's where DD makes the difference. I THINK the DD's do not smoke quite as much. Plus some trucks report a "stuble" with the 370's.

Just more to mull over,

Andrew

My 370s dont smoke at idle at all. You shouldnt get stumble with your 96 5spd as it has the 215hp pump and they handle the 370s just fine.

Just some of what I've heard. DDs are suppose to be smoother running. The 370's when running are just a little rough but hardly noticeable.

My stock clutch slips with them in though.

I wonder what 370s would do in my truck? I've got a Bosch plate, but not sure the number and larger Bosch injectors - again, don't know the numbers, but I am guessing 275s. I would probably need bigger delivery valves with 370s.

Would I gain a lot?

Thanks.

Thanks Sled Puller. Just getting ready to get out of here and go try out the camper for the weekend. Heading over to the the Allegheny National Forest by Kinzua Dam for the weekend. A trial run for the trip to the Smoky Mountains next month.

I have the DD III's and like them alot. Never had 370's so I can't compare.

Don't forget your 20% discount at Diesel Dynamicsw/ a valid TDR member #. This saves alot of money.

20% right on, thanks HEMI®Dart I didn't know that.

I'm hoping to get up around 400hp one day.

In the very near future I'll be ordering the following:

Injectors

3k GSK

60 lb Exh Springs

PDR HX40

4" Exhaust (Straight of course)

And of course first thing'll be a clutch (SB Con OFE) and maybe fully splined input shaft.

I already have a TST#10 plate in and have an AFC Spring kit waiting to go in. I don't plan on installing everything at once, just one at a time as I get time to do so (which isn't too often).

All said and done, how much power difference will I really notice between the 370's or the DD3's. If it's a matter of smoke at cold idle, smoother running, 7 or so hp and a couple bucks I think I'll go with the DD3s. But if it'll mean alot less hp with the DD3's than it's gonna be the 370s :D.

Sorry to drag this one out but I just like to get it right the first time. Looks like most folks have the 370's and I'm always a little cautious when strayin from the croud.

Thank ya kindly

Regards

Mike
