Go here are take a look at what DD reccomends to add the DD3 injectors:
www.dieseldynamics.com/dodgekits.htm
If you want to run DD3's with an otherwise stock truck I think you need to add at least a boost module to fool the computer and not cause it to defuel as well as adjusting the wastegate or disabling it to let you get more boost. If you have the small HY turbo (2001-2 auto transmission) you will probably need a new turbo. You will also need to take care of the transmission as DD3's and a boost module add about 100 HP and that is going to toast either the clutch or torque converter (what ever you have).
I think this disclaimer on DD's website says it all:
Stage 3 to be used only for serious horsepower requirements. This is not for the faint of heart. You will see smoke during heavy acceleration at low boost levels.
All in all DD3's are a serious upgrade to a bone stock truck. Here is what I did before I put mine on:
Gauges
High Flow air filter
transmission upgrade (DTT TC/VB)
4" Exhaust
Replaced fuel lines and moved lift pump to rear
Edge EZ (acts as boost module and changes timing)
PDRHX35-12 turbo (had to replace the HY35-9)
With all those upgrades (about $4000 worth) I was ready to try the DD3's. The results are impressive. With the peddal to the floor my EGT runs about 1200 degress and my truck is flying. If I try to tow anything (like my 2000lb snowmachine tralier) I have to be real careful and watch my EGT. If you want to tow with this setup you would need an HX40 turbo minimum.
So should you run DD3's with out any other mods... NO. My reccomendation to the guys starting out is to get gauges and then get an Edge EZ or BD Plug-n-Play/VA. It adds a nice bit of Hp/TQ and is an easy item to sell later if you want to go bigger. There are places you can get an EZ for less than $500 if you look around.
