How much differance is there between stock injectors and DDI's. Is the improvment worth the $$$. From the comments here, it seems that they are rather mild. I'm still going to go with a TTPM but can't decide on stock, DDI or DDII. I don't want a lot of smoke, high EGT's that require more money or to loose fuel milage from stock. An unreasonable request from my diesel... just looking for answers before I spend the $$$.

Thanks in advance...

The difference will be 60 vs. 80 hp. I don't think DD2's smoke much more than DD1's. I think you clutch would hold with DD2's and a TTPM. I bought DD1's and ended up buying DD2's at a later time. Bombing is a diesase and you'll want more power as soon as you get "used" to the power level. I'd bite the bullet and get some dd2's.

Also, if you buy from DD, they'll give you a 20% discount for being a TDR member. Be sure to have your TDR number with you. Or you can order the injectors from different vendors and probably get them for less (even with DD discount). I got mine

from PDR (www.piersdiesel.com)

my 2 cents. .

disclaimer: not affliated with any vendor.

I don't think there is much difference between the 1's and the 2's as far as smoke and EGT's go, so I would get the 2's and be happier with power. You can always control the smoke with the TTPM is you have to, just put it in a lower setting until boost builds to lower the smoke and still have more power.

Ron

With DD1's and the TTPM you could have clutch trouble but it is unlikely, with the 2's and the TTPM you will be on the edge of the power the clutch will hold. DD1's or 2's are well worth the money.

I would go for the 2's and not hammer it below about 2000 RPM.

DD2's

Don't smoke much with box off and drive really nice if you want smoke turn box on and tromp it you will have smoke.

I should have taken the advice of a couple of wise TDR members and started with 2's They know who they are.

Craig

Just go ahead and get the II's now, It'll cost less to just buy the II's the first time instead of getting something else first and later deciding to get the II's.

DDII's and the TTPM will make for a fun truck, but you will most likely need a clutch upgrade.

Me too, Craig

:{

How is the milage with the 2's compared to your 275's?? Or stock, for that matter.

If anyone has the part number for the DD1's would you please post it

Thanks,

Trying to compile a list of a injector pn's

Bob,

If I am not mistaken the DD 1,2,and3 all have the same part number as a stock injector on them. I am not sure if there is a virusal way to tell the difference between them.

Bill

Depends on which DD injector you get. The "stealth" ones will have the stock part number. The "regular" non-stealth model of DD2 and DD3's are made from 275RV injectors.

I believe this info. is correct, but if not, feel free to correct.

Thanks,

Charles

I put the dd2's in december,

So I can not comment on mileage yet with true "summer" numbers winter mileage has been as bad as 14. 5 to 16. 5 mpg in the three week cold spell in january were it never got warmer then 17 degress. I don't check mileage much in the winter do to the extra idle time.

Craig

I guess DDIII's are out of the question? I suppose the temptation to mash the pedal to the metal would be too much. I didn't find the III's to smoke too much unless you wanted them too. The Comp can control the smoke to a great degree, but the rest is up to the operator! Are you planning a clutch upgrade soon?

What would DD2 only do????

How would DD2 and no box do??? Whould I need a boost fooler, and whould I see any smoke, and what kind of power would I see, and what I have read the clutch will hold injectors only Rite???? Justin:D

Yes you would need a boost fooler and an elbow. I've seen them sold used for 75. 00. Practial solutions makes them.

You would still see some smoke on hot days, but it would not be much. The clutch should hold. +

I would expect DD2's and boost fooler to make about 60 rwhp.

2's and a boost module will make 80 RWHP on an ETC and nearly 100 on an ETH. DD does not advertise flywheel numbers.

Cool

I take it a ETC is a 235hp and a ETH is 245 or the HO motor. . Will the DDIII work on a stock clutch?? And I read that these injectors have the same part number as stock?? Ok would somebody explain how to make the homemade boost fooler in full deatail and where you put it??? And would I see a difference with just that installed??? Many questions  Justin

Yeah, ETC=235 etc. The 3's will do 110-120 RWHP on the ETH, and will seriously challenge the clutch. Odds of it surviving are better than if you used a box like the EZ and small injectors, but it still will be right at the limit.

Stock part numbers on DD2 and larger is wishful thinking at best. Even the lot monkey at the dealer will know before he gets the truck in the shop that something is up. You cannot hide that kind of power.

Boost module on a stock truck will pick the top end up just a bit, and will drop EGT. You will have to be paying close attention though, the difference is very small. Unless towing heavy at higher altitudes just a boost module is not a wise investment.

So DDII

So sounds like DDII is the way to go. And you think that I could have trouble with the warrenty if I put them in there???Like the lift pump going out?? would they not cover that if i had bigger inj??? or would it just not cover it if the inj caused it??? Justin

my DDIII's have a stock 235 hp part number on them, but like Howard said, you cant hide that kind of power. Slightly used and for sale. PM me.
