How much smoke difference is there from the DDII's to DDIII's? How much from the 275 to DDI's? That is if you run the same box setup with each set of injectors.

I think it has more to do with driving style. For me, I have NO problem keeping the DD2s from smoking (with EZ on most aggressive) and I am at high elevation.

If you don't mind driving around the smoke, and watching the pyro, you can run a pretty mean injector, though I wouldn't go higher than a DD3 or EDM 3.

I was surprised as the LACK of smoke going to the DD2s. If you go with the 2s instead of the 3s, it should be because you don't want to worry about heat. Smoke with the 3s is controllable, I am told.

I went with the 2s because they are the standard in street performance injectors. Most diesel shops will recommend the 2s over the 3s. I think this is the case because the same upgrades you need to really run a dd3 will allow you to run more fuel than that.

One of the main considerations I've heard in selecting between the DD2's and DD3's is your particular application. If you tow heavy and haven't swapped turbos, go with the DD2's to avoid EGT problems. If you run unloaded all the time, you can probably live with the DD3's.

Since we use our truck to tow a 36' 13,500 lb 5th wheel, I went with the DD2's. Yes, they smoke more than stock, but they're controllable with the right foot.
