Well I received on the DDP Stage 2's and hopefully I will get to install the injectors tonight. I am really looking forward to seeing the difference that they are going to make. I have the TST medium AFC spring installed right now might have to adjust or go back to the stock AFC spring for smoke control. Next will be down pipe 4" exhaust and turbo and 3k springs. It might not ever end!!!

install complete

Well it took approximately 2. 5 hrs for complete job that includes clean up and test drive. What a difference! 36 psi of boost no problem, but that won't happen to often due to having stock turbo and studs and head gasket. Tomorrow I will know more as far as smoke. EGT's are going to be okay but I will know more after I hook up the trailer and go for a test run. As of right now I am smiles.

Thanks to Ross at DDP for answering my questions.

didi you try adjusting out the smoke with the light AFC spring? How did it work? Did you try the medium spring?

I've been using my right foot to control low boost smoke. Every once in a while I adjust the spring a little more. currently at 20 clicks in on the light spring. Thats with the AFC full forward. Still got smoke if I push the peddle to far at low boost. although smoke will clear out to a light haze once the boost comes up.

Collinsville is about two hours from me.

Afc Spring

Hey Tom,
Yep, I know where you are located. I work for PSO and had to go to Grove and do some work during the ice storm so I wasn't to far from you. I know a few guys that work for a local contractor that have done some work for Empire Electric. On to better things. Well as far as AFC spring I am running with the TST medium spring and I had the spring adjusted to the point it would take 25psi of regulated air for full travel and then set the housing almost full forward. With this setup the throttle felt pretty good unitl 4th gear and then the throttle was real stiff until the boost hit around 10psi and then throttle pressure would start to get easier as boost increased. I have adjusted the spring tension to the point to where I can't adjust the star wheel but there is still spring tension and throttle tension is pretty constant thru all the gears. Smoke control was real good like this. My test drive after install of the stage 2's was 20:00 hrs so I can't tell you what the smoke output is. As for the #10 plate setting, I have the plate set on the consevative side of things. The plate is about . 030 forward of center. Tomorrow I will know what I might need to do for smoke control. I did put the truck in 2nd gear and held the brake to see what kind of stall boost it would build and when I seen 10psi I stopped, I did slip the clutch doing this, took the truck down the road to cool things off. The clutch felt good but I will know more after I hook the trailer and go for a test pull. I need to install some governor springs and set the timing (still stock) to help things out, I also have plans to install a turbo in the future. I probably should have gone with the Stage 3's but I have to watch the budget.
