Yeah, not supposed to put engines here, but it doesn't fit in the other thread for pickups.

I have a 2023 3500 C&C with the de-rated 800 fl/lb 6.7. It really has a 'flat spot' in the power until 1600 rpm. Tow haul doesn't help and many times i have a dead pedal. Rolling at 13k lbs gross. My 2021 with the 875 ft/lb engine is much more peppy, it will pull strong from 1200 on up, even when towing at 14k plus gross.
Question: does it get better after break-in? Only 18k miles now with no changes since new. Some way to fix? Can I get a reflash with the pickup map?

It fits in the 4th Gen 2019+ thread. May or may not get noticed to much here. This is basically for everything else but the engine. I don't have a C&C, but will say that it should start to settle in better after 30K. Just takes seat time to learn the truck and get it broken in! I've finally able to feel the difference in my truck after having driven it for 30K+. Granted, it had 130K when I got it, my FIL says it's running better than when he had it. He didn't like his 2020 much till it cracked 30K. He said it was a noticeable difference in the power and handling. Maybe you could go through a trans relearn. That might help on the pep side. Do you carry the rpms up to 2500 on acceleration? Not sure if that would help on the flat spot you're talking about. I know that I'll run it up to 2200 - 2500 if I need to get it rolling. Hopefully other will chime in with C&C's.

It’s not a de-rated engine, it’s a different engine with some different components. Therefore it’s not quite as simple as flashing a PU tune, which could be done aftermarket only.

The SO is known to be the peppiest of the bunch, even compared to the HO.

In addition to what John says about different components, the transmission has a different tune as well. It doesn't like to be floored, it's better to gradually step into it. I think it's a torque management thing. You'll see this in the bigger medium duty trucks as well.

I have an International MV607 with a 6.7L commercial Cummins with an Allison trans and it's the same thing. It keeps from breaking things like drive shafts, u-joints and axle shafts.
