My 01 -6speed just started this with no warning. when you take off the accelerator pedal seems dead up to around 1800 rpm, the only way to get any speed up is by up-shifting to a higher gear, but no power,20 mph in 2nd or 3rd gear, floor it , nothing happens, after gradually coaxing it to 50 mph in 5th gear it will respond somewhat normally, it just acts like it is starving for fuel at low speed. It still pulls good on hills at higher rpms. Could this be a MAP sensor bad ? I've reset the apps, cleaned the AIT sensor, which was not dirty, checked air filter, intercooler hoses, new fuel filter, the intake air heater seems to be working ok, the truck starts fine. This problem seems to improve somewhat after you drive 15 to 20 miles, but it is still noticable enough to let you know you need to keep your foot in it. The truck has not thrown any codes via the ignition on 3 off 2 method since it started doing this about 2 weeeks ago. I know this is rather lengthy but I described my problem the best I could.

Sounds like a bad APPS - Accellerator Pedal Position Sensor - have you tried re-syncronizing yours?

From another thread:

1. Disconnect your batteries then let it sit. I let my truck sit a couple of hours to overnight but I think the minimum might only be 30 min.

2. Reconnect the batteries turn the ignition to "on" (DO NOT CRANK IT OVER).

3. Slowly push the go-pedal to the floor and slowly release it back up (repeat a few times).

"Check your fuel pressure and make sure your lift pump and injection pump aren't going bad. "

Hardly likely, when it's the LOW speed operation that's affected, but works reasonably well at HIGHER RPM... It's USUALLY the upper RPM ranges that suffer from bad pumps... ;) ;)

yea, I figured if it was the lift pump or injection pump my upper rpms would be hurt more. Anybody got any thoughts on it being the maps sensor?

I will bet money it is the MAP or CPS sensors. Either way it sounds like a bad sensor or a bad APPS, but most likely a bad sensor. You can take it and have diagnostics run on it or just start replacing the sensors until you find the bad one. With no codes, diagnostics may not help much.

My 98. 5 did the same thing. It kept getting worse till no pedal at all

Only difference, I had Check Engine Light and code p0121 & p0122 Bad APPS.

Did you try cleaning body grounds and using dielectric grease on connestions?

I changed out the APPS yesterday and everything is great again! Good Luck
