A friend of mine has a 92 with a dead module ,alternater not charging, a/c not working and running badly. Is there some where he can send his computer to to get it fixed? Dealer wants 800 bones for a new one that is unacceptable. Any help would be appreciated. I forgot to mention truck was struck by lightening, blew all the chrome off the mirror.

module? Whats that??? I hope my truck doesn't have any of those things. Those belong in 24 valves, or on my desk!

Im not up on the older trucks but it is my understanding that they do have a ECM. All it controls is alternator functions and something to do with the injection pump but Im not sure? It also controls a/c system.

You got one it's on the drivers side inner fender beside the battery, follow the big wireharness forward to black box with louvers and there it is!!!!!

You might try wrecking yards, since it sounds like it got toasted by high voltage maybe try to open it up and see if some of the connections might just be blown open.

I don't know about you, but my first call would be to the insurance company. After all thats what they are there for, let them fix it with a new one !. You won't dare drive a Dodge Cummins without full coverage would you ?

1985 DODGE 1 ton Crew Cab(imported from California with no rust) W/8' box converted to 4X4(wasn't that hard to do!) in 1999,converted to a 1991 Cummins Turbo diesel & 5 speed Getrag in 2000(wife can't drive a stick :). 4:10 gears, limited slip rear end, 205 transfer case, 16" Goodyear GSA Wranglers and LE Package and a Sony CD Stereo. A one of a kind truck(Wish Dodge would build a new Crew Cab in 1 ton. Just so you'll know, you can wire around that module. I put an 89 drive train in a 74 Crewcab and didn't know about the module when I did the swap. I didn't have wait-to-start, anti-lock,water-in fuel lite or other idiot lights but everything else worked and it ran fine.

Billy, I think that after 1991 1/2 the Cummins had a much more advanced computer controlling it. It not only ran the Cummins but the Charging System, Cruise Control, AC and the Automatic Transmissions (thats why I picked a early 1991 Cummins!) #ad
