Truck wont start

oil pump

Well it took over 77k on the odometer, but it happened today. Rough idle to rod sounding like shooting through the block. Can anyone answer if FCA is gonna give me a hard time with some Banks aftermarket parts? Bullet and silencer tube. Stuck again twice in a month two hours from home!!!!:(

Good luck......repeat after me, “I am my own Warranty Station”........I seem to remember reading that somewhere before? At least ecodiesel 3.0’s are relatively inexpensive.

Don I see and support your point.

If Statics are correct the 3.0 has had over 5000+ engines replace by warranty alone. The failures (All Most all) are directly related to rotating mass, and No Bullet Pressure box is going to cause premature failure (Rotating Mass). My ED has seen the Bullet for 38K miles out of 44K miles, Here's MY OA. Again QC plays the Hero-Zero Status, get a Zero and it a ticking Bomb, get a Hero and it the energizer Bunny.

My guess at this point is the cam sprocket issue has happened...

Seems like that has been a very small failure rate. Who knows u til the engine gets torn down and you report back. From my limited understanding of this failure, they don’t hole the block or have rod knocks from cam slip.

WELL 1 WEEK AND JUST WHAT I THOUGHT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN,HAPPENED. CLAIM DENIED BECAUSE OF AFTERMARKET ADD ONS, BULLET AND SILENCER DELETE AIR FILTER.NO PROOF OF ANYTHING!!!!! DAMN I'M PISSED!!!!!! GUESS I'M GONNAA HAVE TO PLAY THE GAME, IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO VENT?????? AND OHHH YEAH $ 15,000 PLUS MINUS OUT THE DOOR!!!!!!

@Miller, by no means do I intend to add fuel to the fire but there are sometimes obvious windows of opportunity to cut your losses and move on.

They probably can't prove your minimal modifications definitively caused the problem, just as you can't definitively prove they didn't. It has been well reported here that failures are more common than they should be. Sorry to hear about the failure but I'd just let it go, no way I'd put $15k in it and roll the dice again.

Just call Me.. it will be covered...it happens all the time.. For the Naye Sayers I do believe in pay to play , but not when the failure is 100% related to workmanship and Quality control. 763 228-7121

Yes there have been lower end failures, but if you have been hanging around here long you should know the risk of performance devices. If you decide to play hardball with them they can always go the route of federal emissions tampering.

The Banks Bullet does not temper with emissions controls, components or impede their use, its simply a pressure box.

This motor Does NOT fail in just lower end, it fails ALL over and NOW , FCA been ordered to baby sit the 3.0VM for the next X years

Sag2 ,Your loyalty is misguide in this power plant and WHY FCA is able to behave in such disgusting manner concerning one of the worst power plants to EVER come America.

If your believe the Bullet Caused the OP Failure, than you need to believe this , if you have children I'm their farther.

I could understand if I went nuts, injected, injectors, more fuel, ect!!!! But just a bullet and air tube, nah.fighting this one!!!!!

So a pressure box does not add fuel? I must be missing something.

And just to be clear, I never said there were not lower end failures in stock engines. If you have spent time here you know there have been failures. But then you go ahead and modify the truck knowing it may cause a concern for warranty. That's what I take exception to, modifying knowing full well it could spell trouble and then complaining about it when it happens.

They may end up covering the repair, but hopefully someone else might read this and think, why would I want to make my life more difficult for a couple MPG or a little more power?

Sag2, Yes it adds fuel /Boost...only under demands at 50%+ throttle and 60%+ load and only.

IMO the weak link in most Vehicles is the Trans if The OP 8HP70 puke out I would support the denial of the trans.

Yes its risky adding power, The real problem with the OP warranty is the Dealer....

The OP example that owners of the 3.0 Should be doing OAs... its extremely difficult for FCA to deny warranty if the OAs show no sign of failing or if it does shows high levels of wear and it indicates the owner was doing proper maintenance

You should also post your service records at mopar.com

I don't know FCA's position on UOAs, but I tried that with Ford to prove there WAS an issue with a junk 6.9. They said they do not recognize UOA as valid proof of anything. The iron levels were so high Blackstone called me on the phone to ask if the truck was still in service.

Ford is no different than any other maker, they all have they Policies. Those Policies are generally counter productive in decided cases. Policy is NOT fact in evidence.

The arbitrator or Judge will.....I am one of the most wanted Civil Arbitrators in the State, I have never had a decision overturned by a Judge, I own or have owned several businesses including partial FCA dealership.

Now that being said if you follow the Rambo wannabee's keystrokes found all over the forums/net you are gonna get your balls with your deny Judgment handed to Ya.

In most auto decisions I make its in favor of R/R.. If the plaintiff has any knowledge of the failure / history and its presented, and in Arbitrations cases I ask the defendant provide evidence of what caused the failure....In most cases the defense capitulates and does the repair. I Get My fee and everyone leaves. Hopefully civil.

Some cases get heated and I have dismissed the parties to allow revisiting their positions, Because I must render a Decision.

I am also one of the most wanted Appraisers / Representative . I have only lost one case in 27 Years, the plaintiff's lost their case by NOT following My recommendations at the Hearing....IMO.
