Hey Bob4x4, should I swap #whatever & #6 before & redo the cylinder kill prior to compression test to rule out the injector?

Yes, to validate it is a problem with cylinder not the injector. A CR injector that is not performing correctly will mimic a compressions issue with the contribution and kill tests. No reason to dig further if the problem follows the injector, new injectors time. At 310k and 12 yrs you probably go the goody out of the existing ones.

I replaced the stock injectors at around 275K. It sucks no matter what the outcome is but it beats a truck payment.

Urk!! That is not good. Always possible injector or harness is bad if they were remans, not so much if new but still possible. Are you feeling a dead miss in the engine or just the kill test indicates it is an issue?

It has a miss and white smoke when started, smooths out when warmed up. I cant imagine that I hurt a cylinder, oil changed every 5K and always a clean air filter. It's pushing a small amount of white smoke out of the oil fill cap when removed while it's running. The injectors are remans and I wont trash the supplier. I hope it is just the harness in the gasket. Time will tell....forgot to mention, fuel filter every other oil change or at 10K.

If it smooth's out when it warms up the injector has gone bad. Do NOT run it any more than necessary. If you are lucky it was hanging and firing late when cold or dribbling after sitting for a time so it did not break a compression ring or wash the cylinder. If the rpm drop is not showing obvious drop when you kill that cylinder it is still not working correctly but enough the major visible symptoms disappear. Best scenario is you replace injector and it is all good.

What was the source of the injectors?

Hey Cerb, I think it would be fair to not mention the vendor unless I find the injector to be the problem. Then I will talk to them before or if I name them if that is the case.

Your signature is missing the BD OD Lockout that you bought from me years ago....:)

Fair enough, no use starting a war. Just curious if they were new or reman.

Yeah, a lot of things on my truck are not listed. The OD lockout is still one of the best mods ever. :)

Positive pressure in crank case is a bad sign....Mostly likely you will be pulling the motor to a very costly repair. CR injectors are reliable and durable, but at any time new or use the moment any signs of a problem contact a professional seller, At 1 time you could ask most techs on the behavior and failures of Injectors, No so today, it requires a professional fuel expert..Please don't Grocery shop when buying CR fuel components, These sellers will suck up your banks account $$$ in many cases, it will be premature failure or worst at some point.

I hear you loud and clear, T & C. At this point, I'll need to deal with what we find.

Pal is too busy to help me out right now and I'm going to be busy too. He's the one with shop, tools, equipment and scanner. This may need to wait until June or July but I don't have a good feeling about the diagnosis outcome. I'll post more when we get back into it. In the mean time, it sits in his yard while I commute in the 99 continental AKA leather recliner on wheels. Dang Ford. I appreciate all of the input from you folks.
