Hey guys, I need help ASAP. I just got done putting gauges on my truck and I wasn't showing any fuel pressure. I suspected the lift pump was dead due to the fact that the engine stutters and stalls sometimes under WOT. Anyway, I have my sender hooked to the schraeder valve with the 18" hose. I took the sender loose and heard air russing in. I tried bumping the starter a few times like I would after a filter change and did NOT get the expected squirt of fuel.

Does anyone in the flower mound, tx area have a manual gauge that we can use just to double check? I need to get this thing fixed ASAP before it costs me a injector pump.

I would like to do the fitting swap at the same time. Somewhere I saw a kit with a holley pump and all the stuff to do the swap. I can't for the life of me remember where though. .

Any help would be appreciated. .

If you bumped the starter and you did not hear the LP running, then it's safe to say it's probably toast. Try disconnecting the wire (pigtail) to the LP and re-connect them (both ends if applicable). They do get corroded and lose contact (just went through that with mine.

I am on the side of the fence that believes the OEM LP is a perfectly good pump, it's just in the wrong location. Spend the $80 and relocate it to the frame rail by the tank rather than spend the big money on a bigger, different pump.

You can hear the pump running. . It just isn't doing anything.

I was up late last night reading, and my opinion is that everybody has an opinion. I have decided that I want to remove the dead lift pump and get a holley blue label pummp and mount it in the factory location. (I can always move it later).

Now I just need to figure out what fittings it is going to take to adapt this thing.

this is what i run on my truck with mach 3. 4 and a edge drag 14psi. at idle 12. 5-13 driving 8psi. WOT works great

I had the same problem lastnight. I'm running a carter pusher for my edge comp box to help out the stock lift pump. Well not sure when the stock lift pump went out? could of been a few days ago or months. The truck ran fine with the carter pusher without the stock lift pump. Well the carter burned up on Sunday and the truck wouldn't even idle. ( The carter was around 13 months old) I thought the carter was restricting the fuel flow for the lift pump so i bypassed the carter with a piece of hose until the new carter came in. The truck ran alright for 2 days without a lift pump or a pusher with the box on a low setting it had some problems at wot... . thought it was just the fuel filter. I changed the fuel filter and by doing this it unprimed the injection pump. I had no way to prime the engine so it was dead. Lucked out when the ups man came to my door a hour later. Put in the carter primed the injection pump blead the injectors and it runs fine. I'm kind of scared because everything is depending on the pusher. Don't know if i should install a new lift pump for a fail safe or spend the extra and run a F. A. S. S pump. They clame that the pump will run for 600,000 to 800,000 miles. What do you think i should do. I'm setting everything up heavy for later mods don't like back tracking.

HMMmmmm - waddaya suppose the "claimed" mileage lifespan is for the STOCK LP, or the pusher? ;) ;) :D

who cares they warr. is for that long. Carter says its good for just a helper not a primary pump. so that there makes it shakey

just installed this kit on a 99 with a new filter. . dry fuel system one key cycle the press. came up to 12psi and the truck fired!! with a drag on 5x5 wot 12psi 15. 5 at idle No injectors next will be DD3s

Just to wrap this thread... . Here is the aftermath. . I bought a holley blue label pump from a guy on ebay with a lifetime warranty (or as long as he is in business) for 59$ plus ship. I bought 9$ worth of fuel hose and brass fittings for the pump. I took a piece of angle iron and mounted it on the bracket where the OEM carter pump used to be. Got her plumbed in. Hoked up the wires. Bumped the starter. 13PSI!

My VP44 will love me now. I think the carter has been dead since I got the truck. I cruise @ 10PSI and WOT drops me to 8PSI. Hitting the brakes real hard sends it almost to 15. I think this is all the proof I need that I should install a pusher pump... maybe a Holley red! I think I will also add a relay to drive the pump from a 12V source because I only measured 9VDC at the pump throught the harness. I could use the same relay to drive all pumps.

:) :) :)

The part I like most about this, is that I have a more reliable pump and all for under $90...
