Please help! I just installed a new vp44 and a FASS system this past weekend. The job went just fine, truck started good and ran well. I left this morning and was towing my tool trailer (approx. 8000 lbs) when I had a dead pedal and the engine light came on. The dead pedal was only for a couple of seconds and it came back to life and then ran just fine afterwards. I didn't want to shut it down until I was back at the shop. When I did shut it down, I read the codes and the only one was P1693 which I had before I changed the vp44.

Why did I have a dead pedal for a second and check engine light came on and did not go out?

The FASS system is putting out 21psi rock steady. Is that too much? I have been reading other posts which talk about too much pressure to the vp44. Is this too much? Would that cause a dead pedal?

I feel right now that I can't trust my truck, which is a bad feeling. (don't want to get stuck on the road again!)

Suggestions?

Thanks,

Frank

apps is just above the vp-44 and would be removed to change the pump. throttle cable is hooked to it. there is a reset procedure for it, and the manual says it needs to be reset if removed. remove the negative battery cables for several hours, reconnect them, turn the key on but dont start the engine, slowly push the peddle to the floor and slowyl let it up. reconnect the battery cables. try it could be a cheap fix. hope this helps. good luck

my truck just did the same thing. put on a new apps and it fixed it there is a positioner in it and a bell cranck assembly . You have to buy the whole thing mine was 374. 00 from chrysler. Check Ebay sometimes there is a guy on there that I suspect is a tec somewhere and on ocasion will have one for sale new in the mopar box for 200 bux. I did the repositioning thing also but I just disconected the bats for a few mins then hooked them up then turn the key to, pres pedal down to floor slowly let off. turned of ign and then started truck. At first it idled fast but I didnt have the small cable all the way in the plastic square whole . Once it was pushed in it now idels slower than befor I fixed it, Good luck
