Dont know why they would think its a voltage problem when the codes clearly show you have a bad injector pump. - sorry, but its happening to almost everone with a 2nd gen truck. . Check the codes out for yourself at the link below. I bought a new pump from Industrial Injection and it is running good. The up side is the rebuilt pumps are tougher than the originals that came stock on the truck. .

Also, it is recommended that you upgrade your lift pump (lots of options available), and a fuel pressure gauge is basically mandatory to make sure you dont run your injector pump dry.

P0253 (M) Fuel Injection Pump Fuel Valve Open Circuit Problem sensed with fuel circuit internal to fuel injection pump. :{

P1688 (M) Internal Fuel Injection Pump Controller Failure Internal problem within the fuel injection pump. Low power, engine derated, or engine stops. :{

P1693 (M) DTC Detected in Companion Module A fault has been generated in the companion engine.

Sounds clear to me, VP44.

cum-ins problems

If it helps I have never found cumins to be very knowledgeable!If you have to get a vp44 try the fedex ones. My gutless wonder is now, at least, giving me some boost going down the hiway something that it has NEVER given me before!

Replace your VP-44 with HO version?

Okay, let's say it is time to purchase a VP-44 to have in your "hell box" just in case. And, let's say that mine has the intermittant dead pedal syndrome as described above for the last year. Also, it doesn't seem to be any worse "for wear", just aggravating.

The average price for a VP-44 seems to be around $1,000 and the HO version seems to go for an extra $750 bucks.

Is it worth the extra pocket change to get the HO version? That is a big difference for a working man to come up with.

Thoughts?

John
